Discover Hidden Gems: 2 Stunning New Restaurants You Must Visit!

Share

For many diners in Maryland, two of the most stunning new restaurants in America are just a short drive away.

The Robb Report has unveiled its list of the most beautiful new restaurants in America for 2025, featuring two remarkable spots in Washington, D.C.

This curated list showcases breathtaking venues, including Jean-Georges Vongerichten’s inaugural restaurant in Brooklyn and Crying Tiger, a Chicago establishment offering a culinary journey through Southeast Asia, crafted by chef Thai Dang.

Here’s a closer look at the D.C. restaurants that made this year’s prestigious list:

Marcus DC

Situated in The Morrow Hotel at 222 M St. NE, Marcus DC combines modern American cuisine with Black culinary traditions that span from D.C. to Ethiopia and beyond, as highlighted on the restaurant’s Instagram.

The Robb Report described the venue as follows:

“The restaurant’s design, influenced by the African Diaspora, is the brainchild of Kamille Glenn, founder of dsgnrswrkshp. She collaborated with nearly two dozen artists to create a vibrant space filled with kaleidoscopic colors and dynamic elements. The interiors feature bold hues on a canvas inspired by Black braided hair, crafted by D.C. native Autumn Spears, alongside a vibrant collage depicting scenes from Black life, created by artist Brandon Coley Cox. The centerpiece is a striking abstract collage by Derrick Adams, celebrating identity in a powerful way.”

The Occidental

Since its inception in 1906, The Occidental has been a gathering place for world leaders and local residents alike, offering classic dishes and a unique perspective, as noted on the restaurant’s website. Located at 1475 Pennsylvania Ave. NW, it recently reopened under new ownership.

Here’s what The Robb Report shared about this historic venue:

“The Occidental has been a refuge for statesmen and celebrities since it opened its doors over a century ago, just two blocks from the White House. Relaunched this year under Starr Restaurants, the team enlisted renowned designer Ken Fulk to usher in a new chapter. Each dining room reflects a distinct aspect of American culture, all while exuding old-world elegance. One room is adorned entirely in green velvet, inspired by a vintage Cristofle box, while another showcases oil portraits of 20th-century presidents. This venue is rich in history and allure.”
