Indulge in Romance: Valentine’s Day Barolo Wine Dinner at The Milton Inn & More!

Share

This week is set to be a delightful time in the Baltimore culinary scene, brimming with love and delicious flavors. Here’s an overview of what’s on the horizon:

New Openings & Announcements

Fruition at 135th is anticipated to debut later this year in the Alex Brown building in downtown Baltimore. This new elevated dining venue will take over the space that was previously occupied by The Alexander Brown Restaurant and Zander’s, both of which have been closed since 2024.

In unfortunate news, Refocused Vegan has announced that it will be permanently closing, with its last day of service set for Sunday, February 15.

Creative Local Highlights

With Baltimore’s vibrant culinary landscape, it’s no wonder that local food enthusiasts have been producing intriguing written content for quite some time.

One such writer, Dan Taylor from Baltimore, has just released the 13th edition of The Hungover Gourmet, a delightful zine dedicated to all things food-related, infused with humor and insightful commentary.

The latest issue explores a variety of topics, including an interview with the creator of the culinary horror film “Panman,” along with playful reviews of local grocery stores.

Valentine’s & Galentine’s Celebrations

Valentine’s Day falls on Saturday, and the Galentine’s festivities are kicking off even sooner. If you haven’t made plans yet, now’s the time to act.

To celebrate Galentine’s Day, Silver Queen Café is enticing patrons with $2 off their French Kiss and Strawberry Martini cocktails, both crafted with Catoctin Creek Shenandoah Gin.

If you’re unable to secure a reservation for Friday or Saturday, don’t worry—Woodberry Kitchen is offering a special prix fixe menu throughout the week, featuring indulgent selections like a luxurious chocolate-covered strawberry baked Alaska.

La Calle’s special menu for Valentine’s Day features enticing dishes such as her-marinated halibut accompanied by white beans, kale, and a mango habanero sauce.

Union Collective is sweetening the holiday with a “celebration of chocolate,” which includes chocolate cocktails at Baltimore Spirits Company, cupcake flights from Kupcake & Co available at The Wine Collective (perfect for pairing with their new Cab Franc), mole brisket tacos and BSC bourbon chocolate bread pudding at Carroll & Son Fine Foods, chocolate-infused brews at Union Brewing, and a variety of treats at Vent Coffee Roasters and The Charmery.

National Drink Wine Day

Wednesday, February 18 is designated as National Drink Wine Day—a delightful occasion for wine enthusiasts.

In celebration of this day, Rusty Scupper will be offering 50% off most of their wine bottles (up to $80). The extensive wine list features a wide variety, ensuring there’s something for every palate.

Additionally, many local establishments regularly host half-price bottle nights on Wednesdays, including True Chesapeake and The Milton Inn.

Lunar New Year Celebrations

From February 18 through the 20th, The Corner Pantry will be offering a series of specials in honor of the Year of the Horse. They are also planning a Year of the Horse-themed wine dinner for February 26, with reservations currently available.

Pierpoint Restaurant is reviving its beloved annual Chinese New Year dinner this year on both February 20 and 21, featuring a multi-course dim sum meal that fuses Asian flavors.

Barolo Wine Dinner at The Milton Inn

On Thursday, The Milton Inn will be hosting Cecilia Rocca, from the family behind the Barolo winery Domenico Clerico, for a four-course meal featuring exquisite Italian wines.

Courses include fresh tagliatelle paired with guinea fowl ragu and white Alba truffle alongside the winery’s 2020 vintage, as well as lamb neck served with polenta and mushrooms, perfectly matched with three different vintages.

The Long Table Supper Club

This Friday, H3irloom Food Group will kick off its new monthly dinner series, The Long Table Supper Club. This event features a multi-course meal (with drink pairings) celebrating the culinary traditions of the Chesapeake region and the Black diaspora.
