On Monday, several roads in Baltimore will be temporarily closed for the city’s second annual Black History Month Parade.
The festivities will kick off at noon, starting from the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Eutaw Street. The parade will proceed south along Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, make a left onto Baltimore Street, and conclude between Fremont Avenue and Poppleton Street.
To accommodate the parade, the following roads will be closed on Monday:
- Franklin Street between Fremont Avenue and Greene Street (closed from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.) Access to westbound US-40 will remain open.
- Eutaw Street from Dolphin Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (closed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- Preston Street between Madison Avenue and Howard Street (closed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- Madison Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Preston Street (closed from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.)
- Baltimore Street between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Poppleton Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Fremont Avenue from Baltimore Street to Fayette Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Mulberry Street between Payson Street and Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Franklin Street from Greene Street to Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Pennsylvania Avenue between Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard and Preston Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Druid Hill Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Preston Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.)
- Southbound Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between Eutaw Street and Lombard Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
- Northbound left lane on Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard between West Lombard Street and North Eutaw Street (closed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.)
Additionally, there will be parking restrictions in place from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following streets:
- North Eutaw Street from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to Dolphin Street
- Madison Avenue from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to West Preston Street
- West Preston Street from Madison Avenue to North Eutaw Street
- West Baltimore Street from North Fremont Avenue to North Poppleton Street
- North Fremont Avenue from West Baltimore Street to West Fayette Street
Moreover, there will be parking restrictions from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on both sides of Pennsylvania Avenue extending from Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard to West Preston Street.
Vehicles parked in violation of these restrictions will be subject to tickets and towing.
The city encourages attendees to arrive early. For those driving to the parade, public parking facilities are available in the nearby areas.
Motorists in the vicinity of the parade route should anticipate temporary traffic stops to allow parade participants to pass safely. Delays are expected, so drivers are urged to consider alternative routes.
The Charm City Circulator buses will continue to run on a regular schedule but will implement a detour along the Orange Route from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Up-to-date detour information and service alerts can be found on the Pasio Go! App.
