The Pikesville Armory Foundation has unveiled its inaugural immersive multimedia art exhibition titled “Resonant Site,” which will be hosted during the last two weekends of April.
Created by the Maryland-based artist duo Collis Donadio, “Resonant Site” is an innovative multi-screen installation that delves into the relationship between industry and the environment in the Baltimore area—specifically where land meets water. The duo, comprised of Baltimore artists Shannon Collis and Liz Donadio, harnesses their expertise in photography, digital video, and sound installations to create works that reflect on public spaces, chronicling their histories, current circumstances, and potential futures.
In a statement, the artists noted, “The Pikesville Armory serves as the perfect backdrop for our installation due to its expansive size and open interior.” They added, “The building’s raw aesthetic and rich history have provided us with a rare chance to engage with a location undergoing transformation. ‘Resonant Site’ takes advantage of the drill hall’s dimensions and acoustics to offer an immersive, multi-sensory experience. Attendees will navigate through a web of suspended screens showcasing video and sound sourced from Baltimore’s waterfront and industrial regions. As visitors explore, the work gradually reveals itself, evolving into a cohesive experience that merges projection, sound, and architecture.”
The initial phase of the Armory’s renovation was completed in August 2025, as part of an extensive project aimed at establishing “an intergenerational community hub for sports, recreation, and the arts,” according to a press release. The Armory was also the venue for a free jazz concert series last summer, in addition to hosting a PopUp! Inflatable Art Festival in September 2025.
The “Resonant Site” exhibition is open to the public free of charge during two weekends: from Friday, April 17, to Sunday, April 19, and from Saturday, April 25, to Sunday, April 26. Operating hours are from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. An Artist Talk is scheduled for the closing day, Sunday, April 26, at 3 p.m.
This exhibit will be located in the drill hall of the historic Pikesville Armory main building, situated at 640 Reisterstown Road. Attendees will find free parking available on-site.
