Eater is excited to announce the upcoming release of its new cookbook, Eaterland, set to hit shelves on April 28. To celebrate, the publication is organizing events at local bookstores, allowing readers the chance to explore the book further.
On Thursday, May 14, fans are invited to visit the delightful cookbook-centric Bold Fork Books in Mount Pleasant, Washington D.C., where Brinda Penmetsa will moderate a discussion featuring cookbook co-editor Missy Frederick, Eater’s editorial director of dining, alongside Mid-Atlantic chapter author Tim Ebner, a seasoned food and travel journalist who has contributed extensively to Eater. Tickets for this engaging event can be purchased here.
Additionally, Frederick and Ebner will make their way to Baltimore on May 4, where they will be guests at Seton Hill’s Charm City Books. They will be joined by Dylan Salmon, the owner of Dylan’s Oyster Cellar, whose coddies recipe is featured in the cookbook. Tickets for this event are available here.
Centered around the beloved regional dishes that shape American cuisine, Eaterland is packed with various recipes, insights from chefs, and essays discussing local ingredients and culinary traditions. Each chapter includes instructions for making dishes that are vital to the nation’s culinary heritage, ranging from the french fry-topped Pittsburgh salad to Hawaii’s loco moco, featuring many recipes from small, community-focused eateries.
In addition to the coddies recipe, Eaterland offers several recipes that celebrate the greater D.C. region, including a chili cheese half-smoke from Meats & Foods, mumbo nuggets from Lucky Buns, Maryland Cream of Crab soup from Ruse located in St. Michaels, and Smith Island Cake from Tilghman Island Baking Company on the Eastern Shore.
For those unable to attend the events, preordering the cookbook is still an option and can be done here. For preorders made before April 28, use code EATERBOOKS40 to receive a 40 percent discount. Furthermore, if you preorder Eaterland or purchase it by May 4, you will also be eligible for an exclusive bonus road trip guide and a 20 percent discount from Heritage Steel, the partner providing the stainless cookware.
