Two teens arrested after shooting inside Germantown Giant grocery store
Authorities have apprehended two individuals connected to the shooting of a man inside the Giant Food grocery store located in Germantown, Maryland, last month.
Montgomery County police reported on Wednesday that they arrested 19-year-old Marcus Isaiah Jovon Braithwaite from Germantown and a 16-year-old boy from Montgomery Village.
The incident occurred on March 20 around 8:40 p.m. when the two suspects entered the store situated in the 18300 block of Leaman Farm Road. Shortly after, a man entered the store, prompting the suspects to pursue him.
Braithwaite and the 16-year-old allegedly chased the victim to the front of the store, where they fired multiple shots at him before fleeing the scene.
Both individuals face serious charges, including attempted first-degree murder, first and second-degree assault, reckless endangerment, and the use of a firearm in connection with a violent crime.
Police have released surveillance footage from the grocery store, which captures the suspects running with weapons and discharging them near the checkout area before escaping.
The 16-year-old is being charged as an adult and is currently awaiting extradition from Sterling, Virginia, to Montgomery County.
Braithwaite is being held without bond and is in police custody, with a court appearance scheduled for Thursday regarding his bond hearing.
