Gear Up for the DC United Game at M&T Bank Stadium: Your Ultimate Guide to Beating Traffic and Navigating Lane Closures!

Share

Planning to attend the exciting soccer match at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday, where DC United will take on Inter Miami CF? The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT) has some important traffic updates for drivers.

Although the match kicks off at 4:30 p.m., traffic disruptions are anticipated well in advance, with increased congestion expected in the downtown area. Road and lane closures will commence as early as 11:30 a.m. on Saturday.

The following closures will be in place starting at approximately 11:30 a.m.:

  • Northbound Russel Street Service Drive, situated between West and Hamburg Streets.
  • The Hamburg Street Bridge, located between Leaden Hall and Paca Streets, will be accessible for entering the game. The bridge will reopen during the first half but will close again just before the second half starts.
  • The Ostend Street Bridge, between Sharp and Warner Streets, will be open for game entry but will also close again at the beginning of the second half.
  • A modified traffic pattern on Warner Street will temporarily be in place between the Ostend Street Bridge and Stockholm Street to facilitate game entry and accommodate railroad crossings.
  • Warner Street, along with Alluvion Street, Worcester Street, and Bayard Street, will have specialized traffic patterns for game exit at the start of the second half.
  • Hamburg Street will face a temporary closure between Hanover and Charles Streets to manage egress at the beginning of the second half.
  • Hanover Street will prohibit southbound travel between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets at the start of the second half, with traffic rerouted onto Henrietta Street for east or westbound access.

A section of Warner Street is closed between Worcester and W. Ostend Streets due to construction work. To ease game day traffic, an adjusted pattern will be employed on Warner Street for fans arriving and leaving the stadium, which will include a one-way lane for northbound entry and southbound exit, as well as a pedestrian walkway.

The Baltimore City DOT encourages fans attending the game to mind all posted parking restrictions and adhere to residential permit parking rules surrounding the stadium, as these regulations will be strictly enforced. For those driving, it is advisable to utilize commercial parking lots and steer clear of nearby neighborhoods. The DOT highly recommends that anyone without a stadium parking permit opt for public transportation, including the free Charm City Circulator. Riders can utilize the Passio GO! app to assist in planning their journeys.

Given the anticipated surge in traffic, Transportation Enforcement Officers will be stationed in the vicinity to help maintain the flow of traffic and ensure pedestrian safety. Anyone driving near the stadium should prepare for heavy foot traffic and vehicle congestion, as additional traffic adjustments may arise both before and during the match.
