Often referred to as the “Oscars of Food,” these prestigious awards honor chefs and restaurants that excel in creating outstanding dishes, innovative food media, and improved food systems. According to the James Beard Foundation, the awards also emphasize a commitment to racial and gender equity, community engagement, sustainability, and fostering an inclusive culture.

The semifinalists, announced on Wednesday, span 14 categories, with the best chef semifinalists representing a dozen regions.

In 2025, 96% of surveyed semifinalists reported that their recognition had a beneficial effect on their operations and communities, according to a recent news release from the organization.
