Share

Residents of Baltimore have a unique opportunity to attend a “science fair for grown-ups” at the BCYF’s Community Exhibition on Thursday, June 11, from 5–8 p.m.

The venue, known as 4MLK, will be transformed into an engaging two-story environment for this event, which celebrates the conclusion of the Learning Lab’s 2025-2026 program year. Youth leaders, local grassroots organizations, nonprofit entities, and community partners will come together to showcase the knowledge, projects, and creations they have developed throughout the year. Attendees can expect to see interactive stations, gallery exhibits, and hands-on demonstrations that highlight the impressive talents of Baltimore’s youth.

This exhibition, hosted by the Baltimore Children & Youth Fund, offers visitors a chance to witness public youth funding in action. Participants will learn about various youth programs, experience engaging exhibits, enjoy live performances, and have opportunities to contribute input for the community. Among the expected attendees are Baltimore City Council President Zeke Cohen and Councilwoman Phylicia Porter, along with other city officials and community leaders, including Alysia Lee, president and CEO of BCYF.

The Community Exhibition is free to the public and emphasizes civic engagement. The event supports the Youth Master Plan, a community-driven initiative created with youth input to ensure that young people have the necessary opportunities and resources to flourish.

Established in response to community demands for racial equity following the tragic events surrounding Freddie Gray’s death in 2015, BCYF is committed to promoting equity in public investment for Baltimore’s young individuals. Officially recognized in 2020 after being approved by 80% of voters in 2016, BCYF converts public funds into opportunities for youth. Since its inception, it has supported over 140 grassroots organizations, facilitated 17,000 youth opportunities, and allocated more than $40 million in grants and funding.

Thursday’s exhibition will feature displays from various BCYF grantee organizations, including CHARM, Nuestras Raíces, Expanding Boundaries International, and The Equity Project Foundation. Participants can look forward to youth performances, open mic sessions, and a dedicated Baltimore Youth Master Plan station, allowing residents to share their ideas and express interest in influencing future youth initiatives. Additionally, the “Mayor for a Minute” video booth offers individuals the chance to record brief messages about their aspirations for Baltimore.

To participate, please register on the BCYF website.
