Share

As we dive into mid-January, Baltimore’s dining scene is buzzing with fresh openings, exciting announcements, and revamped menus. Let’s explore what’s happening this week:

New Openings & Announcements

Starting this week, Hana Sushi, brought to you by the creators of Yama Sushi, will be opening its doors in Hampden, taking over the former Souvlaki location. You can find more details on their website.

Josefina, which hinted at its launch on New Year’s Eve, will officially welcome guests starting Friday, January 9. Get ready for an exciting dining experience! More information can be found on their Instagram page.

Moreover, Atlas Restaurant Group has formed a new collaboration with Boatyard Bar & Grill, a lively spot located in the Eastport neighborhood of Annapolis.

Congratulations to Olive Todd on her promotion to Bar Director and Head of the Bar Lab at Clavel. She will be collaborating with Mezcal Director Dre Levon to create innovative cocktails.

Join Ammoora in celebrating its third anniversary with a special offer: a $3 discount on all signature craft cocktails and mocktails. Cheers to three incredible years!

La Cuchara Incident

Last Sunday, a kitchen fire forced the evacuation of La Cuchara. Thankfully, both staff and diners are safe, and the Baltimore City Fire Department successfully contained the blaze. However, the restaurant is currently closed, and we hope for a swift recovery.

Beloved in Baltimore and beyond for its Basque cuisine, exceptional wine selection, and dedicated service, the community is rallying in support of La Cuchara’s staff and management as they prepare to reopen.

Sammies at The Wren

Chef Adam Estes will be taking over the kitchen at The Wren this month, serving delicious sandwiches, hearty soups, and a crisp wedge salad. He will be on-site on Friday and Saturday, January 9 and 10, and again from Tuesday, January 13 to Saturday, January 17. Be sure to stop by for a bite!

Café Gia Goes Family-Style

Café Gia has rolled out a convenient family-style menu available for takeout or delivery. These meals, ideal for families of four or six, feature selections of pasta and main courses, along with a starter, dessert, and extra add-ons.

Pizza-Making at Verde

This Tuesday, Verde will host a lively pizza-making class. Participants will enjoy a wine pairing, an appetizer, a dessert, and the joy of eating their handmade pizza!

Bread and Soup Workshop at Cosima

Wednesday will also be an exciting evening for those wanting to learn some new culinary skills. Cosima is holding an evening class focusing on making bread and delectable soups with Chef Donna Crivello. Attendees will create rustic baguettes, rosemary olive focaccia, and two delicious soups: winter vegetable and creamy tomato.

Krautfest Returns

Gertrude’s annual Krautfest is back with an exciting twist. This year, rather than a single night, the event will stretch across several days, featuring special Krautfest menu items from Wednesday, January 14, through Sunday, January 18. If you adore dishes with cabbage, knockwurst, and more, this celebration is for you!

January Flavors

New year, new delicious specials await you.

This month, The Corner Pantry is serving a delightful drink of the month: a juniper cardamom latte infused with flavors of juniper, cardamom, and orange syrup, topped off with candied rosemary. Perfect for keeping warm in January!

Johnny’s has introduced its January cookie of the month, which may not align with New Year’s resolutions but will certainly satisfy your sweet tooth. Look out for the enticing raspberry linzer cookie made with house-made raspberry preserve.

At Foraged, the menu is a nod to summer with a refreshing mezcalita, crafted using strawberries that were harvested last season at Shaw Orchards and preserved in the restaurant.

Restaurant Week Season Kicks Off

It’s that time of year again! Winter Restaurant Week is here, providing the perfect opportunity to explore new eateries or revisit old favorites.

Launching on Friday, January 16, several promotions are set to begin, including Harford County and Baltimore County’s restaurant weeks, alongside Atlas Restaurant Group’s Dine to Donate event benefiting The Y. All events will run until January 25.

The Live! Restaurant Week at Live! Casino and Hotel starts on January 18 and continues through January 29. Howard County’s event kicks off on January 19 and lasts until February 1.
