The Montgomery County Police Department is currently investigating a shooting incident that occurred in Bethesda on Wednesday, which involved four individuals.
Officers were dispatched to the 6600 block of Rockledge Drive around 12:10 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Fortunately, no injuries were reported, but police did locate shell casings at the scene.
Initially, authorities detained four individuals—three minors and one adult—who were later determined to be the intended targets of the shooting. They were subsequently released without any charges.
As of now, the suspect remains unidentified, and the investigation is ongoing. Police are urging anyone with information to contact them at 1-866-411-8477 or visit the Crime Solvers of Montgomery County website.
The shooting incident prompted a “secure” status at several nearby Montgomery County Public Schools, including Walter Johnson High School, North Bethesda Middle School, Tilden Middle School, Ashburton Elementary School, Luxmanor Elementary School, Wyngate Elementary School, and the Rock Terrace School. This protocol involved securing all external doors and keeping students and staff indoors until the situation was assessed. The secure status was lifted once authorities confirmed there was no longer a threat to school safety.
