This Fourth of July weekend, individuals and families around the nation will celebrate a significant milestone, marking 250 years since the founding of the United States of America.
In the Baltimore area, both locals and visitors are gearing up for the festivities, which will include an array of fireworks displays, a captivating drone show, live musical performances, and various other celebrations.
Inner Harbor Celebrations and Fireworks Show
The festivities at Inner Harbor will commence on Saturday, July 4, at 6 p.m. at the Amphitheater. Live music will be provided by the band Avenue 66 starting at 7 p.m. on the promenade, and the evening will conclude with a splendid fireworks display over the harbor at approximately 9 p.m. Additionally, a drone show is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. at Middle Branch Park, providing a spectacular visual treat (details below).
Cherry Hill Arts & Music Waterfront Festival
In its 10th year, the Cherry Hill Arts & Music Festival is set to return on Saturday, July 4, from 1 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Middle Branch Park, located at 3301 Waterview Ave.
The festival promises to offer a diverse lineup of musical acts, ranging from hip hop and jazz to Latin music and beyond. Attendees can enjoy numerous vendors, art workshops, a dedicated Kids Zone, and cultural heritage education opportunities.
Featured performers include soul and R&B artist Deborah Bond, Baltimore club and house music artists Mighty Mark & Spitcam University, along with reggae musicians Mykal Rose & Subatomic Sound System. Various other artists will take to the stage throughout the day.
The Cherry Hill celebrations will culminate with the captivating drone show beginning at 9:30 p.m. For those not at the festival, the drone show can also be witnessed from West Covington Park at 101 W. Cromwell St.
Star-Spangled 250 Concert Series
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra will host two nights of Star-Spangled 250 concerts at Oregon Ridge Park in Cockeysville on Friday, July 3, starting at 8:30 p.m., and Saturday, July 4, at 8 p.m.
Under the direction of Music Director Jonathon Heyward, BSO musicians will perform a selection of significant American pieces, including “The Star Spangled Banner,” “Amazing Grace,” and the main theme from “Star Wars,” culminating in a performance of the “1812 Overture,” which will be accompanied by a fireworks display.
Pratt Street Night Market
The Pratt Street Night Market will take place on Saturday, July 4, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at McKeldin Square, featuring an array of food selections from local vendors.
Red, White & Groove Silent Disco
Those looking to dance can attend the Red, White & Groove Silent Disco on Saturday, July 4, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Guests will have the opportunity to wear wireless headphones and dance to DJ-curated music, allowing them to enjoy their own musical experience without interference. This unique disco will occur at 1201 Point St.
Red, White & Zoo
For those enthusiastic about America’s 250th anniversary, the Maryland Zoo will host the Red, White & Zoo event on Saturday, July 4, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Attendees can engage in animal encounters, themed enrichment activities, and enjoy special surprises to celebrate the momentous occasion.
250th All-American Bash
Join the fun at the 250th All-American Bash on Saturday, July 4, from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the B&O Railroad Museum. Attendees can enjoy live music, outdoor lawn games, activities for children, free two-stepping lessons, and a rare opportunity to see the B&O Railroad Museum’s American Freedom Train No. 1 Engine. Train rides will include complimentary ice cream, with craft beers and BBQ available for purchase.
Fourth of July: Park & Relax at the BMI
Visitors are invited to park at the Baltimore Museum of Industry and enjoy a relaxing Fourth of July afternoon. On Saturday, July 4, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., ticket holders can experience live music from the John Lamkin Favorites Jazz Quintet, participate in outdoor games and activities, and enjoy stunning views of the city fireworks display.
250th Anniversary Celebration
The Fire Museum will celebrate this significant milestone with a 250th Anniversary Celebration on Friday, July 3, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. This free, family-friendly event will feature activities such as raising the American flag, meeting Benjamin Franklin, enjoying food from local food trucks, painting a patriotic fire hydrant, and taking a ride on a horse-drawn fire hose wagon.
