This week, Baltimore is hosting the 2026 Conference & Bookfair organized by the Association of Writers & Writing Programs, welcoming both literary enthusiasts and creators.

AWP Conference & Bookfair, running from Wednesday, March 4, to Saturday, March 7, at the Baltimore Convention Center. This event will bring together writers, educators, students, editors, and publishers for an enriching experience. Highlights include both in-person and virtual sessions, featuring a keynote address by John Waters on Thursday evening.

In Service of the Bay: A Panel Discussion on Farming Oysters and Wine, Thursday, March 5, from 5:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. at The Heritage Room, True Chesapeake. This panel will focus on how sustainable farming practices, encompassing both vineyard cultivation and aquatic farming, influence the health and future of the Chesapeake Bay. Each ticket includes a glass of Dodon Sauvignon Blanc, a selection of True Chesapeake oysters, and a variety of hors d’oeuvres.

Profs & Pints Baltimore: Celtic Mythology, Thursday, March 5, at Guilford Hall Brewery. Delve into the fascinating world of Celtic Mythology and its geographical reach in a lecture led by Larissa “Kat” Tracy, who has been a past president of the American Society of Irish Medieval Studies and serves as a visiting assistant teaching professor of English at the University of Maryland Baltimore County.

Jimmy O. Yang, Thursday, March 5, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. at Lyric Baltimore. Comedian Jimmy O. Yang will perform as part of his “Big & Tall Tour.”

Monsters and Moons Exhibition Opening, Friday, March 6, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Creative Alliance. Attend the opening of artist Tiffany Lange’s “Monsterns and Moons” exhibition, showcasing intricate sculptures by the artist. The exhibition will be available for viewing from March 6 until April 17, with an artist talk and tour scheduled for March 19 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Antigone, Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8, at Spotlighters Theatre. Experience the opening weekend of Spotlighters Theatre’s rendition of Sophocles’ classic play “Antigone,” which explores the tragic tale of Oedipus’s children and their mother, Jocasta. The production continues until March 29.

Murder on the Orient Express, Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8, at CCBC Dundalk. The Dundalk Community Theater is presenting a stage adaptation of Agatha Christie’s timeless mystery. Join the cast aboard the luxurious Orient Express for one of the most captivating thrillers ever written! Performances will take place at the Alvin and Mary Lloyd College Center, John E. Next to Normal, Friday, March 6, through Sunday, March 8, at M&T Bank Exchange. Experience Iron Crow Theatre’s performance of “Next to Normal,” a powerful musical that highlights a family grappling with grief, mental health challenges, and existential crises. This production runs until March 15.

GenX Takeover Comedy Tour, Friday, March 6, at 8 p.m. at Lyric Baltimore. Get ready for an evening filled with nostalgia and authenticity as GenX comedians hit the stage. Family Safety Day, Saturday, March 7, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Fire Museum of Maryland. Enjoy complimentary entry to the museum while learning about fire safety and potential career paths in First Responder professions during this educational and family-friendly event.

NAL’s HIV/AIDS Awareness Round Dance, organized by Native American LifeLines of Baltimore, aims to raise awareness of HIV/AIDS through their annual round dance event. Attendees can access HIV testing, visit community health booths, explore Native craft vendors, enjoy free food, and participate in a hand drum competition, among other activities.

Nature by the Fire – Nocturnal Neighbors, Saturday, March 7, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Irvine Nature Center. Cozy up by the fire, roast marshmallows, and join Naturalist Ash for engaging nature-themed activities, including a visit from one of Irvine’s animal ambassadors.

Maple Magic 2026, Sunday, March 8, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. at Irvine Nature Center. Join local naturalists for a sweet celebration as they tap sap-producing trees and share fun activities around the fire while explaining how sap is transformed into syrup.
