Two men became trapped on the ledge of a ninth-floor room at the Embassy Suites Hotel on Democracy Boulevard during an attempted armed robbery. They were safely rescued at around 2:30 a.m. Thursday, as reported in a social media update by the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service.
An official from the Montgomery County police stated to WTOP that they received the incident report at about 12:40 a.m. and quickly arrived at the scene, discovering the men stranded on the precarious ledge.
According to the police spokesman, the two men were inside their hotel room when a third individual entered, attempting to rob them at gunpoint. For reasons that remain unclear, the men decided that escaping onto the ledge was their safest option, where they remained stuck for over an hour.
The fire and rescue teams effectively employed a ladder truck to assist the men in getting safely back to solid ground. Fortunately, neither individual sustained any injuries during the incident.
The alleged suspect was apprehended by police, who have not released further information about the case. An investigation is currently underway.
