A kitchen fire at a home in Germantown on Monday night has left four residents displaced, according to the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Firefighters were dispatched to the 19000 block of Gallop Drive, near Steeple Road, shortly after 8 p.m. following reports of a fire in the kitchen, MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer shared on social media.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and crews ensured that the flames had not spread to other areas of the house. Fortunately, all occupants managed to evacuate safely, and there were no reported injuries.

Initial investigations indicated that the fire was accidental, sparked by an air fryer left on the stovetop while a burner was active.

A residential sprinkler system played a crucial role in containing the flames, which resulted in an estimated $70,000 worth of damage. The incident has displaced two adults and two children, according to MCFRS.

During the firefighting efforts, some roads in the area were temporarily blocked.
