A kitchen fire at a home in Germantown on Monday evening has left four residents displaced, as reported by the Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).

Emergency responders were dispatched to the 19000 block of Gallop Drive, near Steeple Road, at approximately 8:08 p.m. following reports of a fire in the kitchen, according to MCFRS spokesperson Pete Piringer.

The fire was quickly extinguished, and firefighters conducted checks to ensure it had not spread to other areas of the home. Fortunately, all residents managed to evacuate safely, and there were no injuries reported.

Piringer noted that the initial investigation indicated the fire was accidental, originating when an air fryer was left on the stovetop while a burner was active.

A residential sprinkler system in the home activated, which helped to contain the fire’s spread.

The incident resulted in an estimated $70,000 in damages and displaced two adults and two children, MCFRS stated.

While crews worked at the scene, some roads in the area were temporarily blocked.
