From the thrill of tall ships to the arrival of summer’s first tomatoes, this week promises to be exciting for culinary enthusiasts in Baltimore. Here’s a roundup of notable happenings in the local restaurant scene:

Openings & Announcements

A new brunch establishment, Sunday Social, is expected to open in South Baltimore by mid-July.

Dangerously Delicious Pies is closing its Hampden location, marking the end of its last physical storefront, on Sunday. However, the pie business will still be available at local farmers’ markets throughout the region.

Love, Pomelo has adjusted its hours, now opening at 4:30 p.m. from Tuesday through Sunday. The restaurant will also feature an “Aperitivo Hour,” offering specials on snacks and drinks until 6:30 p.m. each day.

Sail250 Events

The Sail250 events are officially in motion, bringing an array of activities for onlookers, including sailors, the Blue Angels, and plenty of excitement at waterfront restaurants and bars.

If you’re downtown on Friday, June 26, make sure to swing by the Seafood for Thought Stage around noon for a crab soup cook-off. Participating restaurants include 200 Monroe Restaurant, Classic Catering, Girl in the Kitchen, Hook & Vine, Jimmy’s Famous Seafood, Lord Baltimore Hotel, McCormick and Schmick’s, Pendry Baltimore, Phillips, Rouge Catering, Royal Sonesta Harbor Place Baltimore, and Soul Man Sweets. If you attend, please stop by the judge’s table to say hello!

On Saturday, the Fells Point Farmer’s Market at Broadway Square will run as usual, offering visitors a range of fantastic vendors along with the delightful backdrop of the tall ships.

Star Bright Supper

This Sunday, The Milton Inn’s Chef Chris Scanga will be hosting a luxurious outdoor summer supper at Star Bright Farm. This event is part of the To the Table Supper Series and will include live music from Chris Jacogs and Patrick Rainey, along with drinks from Dodon Vineyards and Pickett Brewing, as well as oysters from Fallen Pine Oyster Co..

Sally O’s at Baltimore Taphouse

On Monday, the Sally O’s team will host a pop-up at Baltimore Taphouse, featuring a casual menu with three boxed meal options of sandwiches and sides. This pop-up marks the beginning of a new monthly series, where the Taphouse collaborates with a local chef or restaurant on the last Monday of each month.

Photos at Petit Louis

On Tuesday evening, Petit Louis will organize a photo shoot for its future marketing endeavors. Interested individuals can secure reservations to dine at the Roland Park bistro that night to be part of this experience.

Tomatoes Are Back

Seasonal tomatoes are making a delightful return to menus across town.

At Silver Queen Café, they are fried and can be savored alongside a Spanish G&T.

Charleston’s offers fried tomatoes paired with buffalo milk mozzarella, arugula, and saffron, showcasing a delightful twist.

The Milton Inn presents tomatoes beautifully in a salad, combined with goat cheese, red onion, and cucumber for a refreshing option.

Josefina highlights tomatoes in a stunning pan con tomate, garnished with a Spanish anchovy to create a unique flavor profile.
