The Baltimore food scene is flourishing this week, filled with a variety of wine, whiskey, and an abundance of spring produce. Here’s what’s happening in the area:

Openings & Announcements

In a surprising turn of events, local fans of Foraged were informed last week by Chef Chris Amendola on social media that the Station North eatery has closed. The talented team behind Foraged also manages Foraged at Patowmack Farm in Virginia and will now shift their focus exclusively there.

Additionally, another beloved establishment, One Eyed Mike’s, is set to close its doors as well, with the Fells Point favorite remaining operational until the end of April. The official website provides further information.

Farmers’ Market Season

As the weather warms and spring produce becomes available, the farmers’ markets are gearing up for reopening across the region. Although the 32nd Street Farmers Market remains open year-round, most local markets operate seasonally, including the popular Baltimore Farmers’ Market, which kicked off last Sunday underneath the JFX.

Baltimore Old Time Music Festival

This weekend, music enthusiasts can anticipate an exciting event at the Baltimore Old Time Music Festival, hosted at the Baltimore Museum of Industry. This festival not only highlights music but also offers a rich food experience, including fresh oysters from True Chesapeake.

Juniper Farm Reopens for Spring

On April 18 and 19, Juniper Farm will host a special welcoming picnic to celebrate spring. This event will mark the beginning of its event season and will feature a variety of flowers, herbs, and vegetables for sale, alongside numerous engaging activities such as farm tours and fun photo opportunities. Boordy Dinner with Brian Lavin

On Wednesday evening, chef Brian Lavin from Costiera will join the county’s culinary scene for a pop-up event at Boordy Vineyards. This occasion is part of the vineyard’s ongoing Supper Club Series, where exceptional chefs collaborate for memorable evenings of gourmet food and wine pairings.

Wine Thursday

For wine aficionados, Thursday, April 23 promises to be an especially noteworthy day in Baltimore.

On that evening, The Food Market will offer a seven-course wine dinner in its exclusive kitchen space. The menu will showcase spring-inspired dishes, including lobster Wellington accompanied by chanterelles, whipped fava beans, and melted leeks.

On the same day, True Chesapeake will host a complimentary tasting event featuring white wines, courtesy of Breakthru Beverage. The selection will include notable options from both Napa Valley and Italy.

Also taking place on Thursday, Gunther & Co. will feature a Spanish-inspired wine dinner showcasing wines from Gil Family Estates. Proceeds from this event will benefit Chefs Cycle for No Kid Hungry.

Sagamore Turns 9

Beginning April 24, Sagamore Spirit Distillery will kick off its celebration of its ninth anniversary with a weekend packed full of activities suitable for the entire family. Guests can enjoy a variety of food trucks, live music, distillery tours, and cocktail-making classes.
