The anticipation has finally come to an end for fans of the Hippodrome Theatre.
Ron Legler, the president of the France-Merrick Performing Arts Center, has revealed the exciting lineup for the 2026/2027 Hippodrome Broadway Series, set to commence in September.
Recently, the Hippodrome stirred curiosity with a fun post on Instagram, displaying a mood board and inviting theater enthusiasts to predict the upcoming shows. Now it’s time to see how well those guesses hold up.

The season opens with the highly anticipated North American tour premiere of “Maybe Happy Ending,” a musical that has garnered six Tony Awards, including Best Musical. Lauded as “one of the best musicals in years” by USA Today, this robot love story has already created quite a buzz in Baltimore.
In October, the pop musical “SIX,” which tells the story of King Henry VIII’s six wives—some of whom faced tragic ends—returns to the Hippodrome following a sold-out run in 2023. This dynamic show will serve as the first option for season subscribers.
November will mark the Baltimore debut of Alicia Keys’ Broadway musical, “Hell’s Kitchen.” Based on her impressive 17 Grammy-winning songbook and inspired by the Hell’s Kitchen neighborhood of New York City, where she grew up, this show was hailed as a “Critic’s Pick” by The New York Times.
The holiday season in December will shine brightly with the return of Cirque du Soleil’s enchanting family show “’Twas the Night Before…”. This beloved performance, eagerly anticipated by fans, uniquely fuses dazzling acrobatics, imaginative storytelling, and festive cheer.
As we step into January 2027, audiences can look forward to a new North American tour of the critically acclaimed classic, “The Sound of Music.” With its timeless story and unforgettable score, the production encapsulates a powerful message about breaking down barriers.
February will treat viewers to “Death Becomes Her,” a musical comedy transformed from the 1992 cult classic film featuring Meryl Streep and Goldie Hawn. Described by The Daily Beast as “a cheek-aching laughter roller coaster,” this show promises a fun night out.
In March, the celebrated “Hamilton” returns for an extended multi-week run, captivating audiences with its inspiring tale of Alexander Hamilton and his indelible impact on our nation’s history.
April will see the premiere of the musical adaptation of S.E. Hinton’s iconic novel, “The Outsiders,” which won four 2024 Tony Awards including Best Musical. This touching new musical explores the themes of self-discovery and the importance of friendship, family, and hope.
May will have audiences wondering, “What’s your damage?” with the launch of the North American Tour of “Heathers The Musical.” Based on the cult classic film from 1989, this show unfolds at Westerberg High, where the quest for popularity becomes a matter of life and death for Veronica Sawyer, who finds her social ambitions either fulfilled or thwarted.
The season will conclude in June with Disney’s production of “Beauty and the Beast.” This marks the first North American tour of this beloved musical in over 25 years. With newly crafted designs and the Oscar-winning score that audiences adore, this classic promises an enchanting finale.
Three shows from the 2026/2027 Hippodrome Broadway Series are also eligible for Maryland’s Theatrical Tax Credit Program, which was established in 2022: “Maybe Happy Ending,” “SIX,” and “Heathers The Musical.”
In a recent statement, Legler expressed, “This season embodies our commitment to providing Baltimore with vibrant new voices, legendary stories, and the finest touring Broadway productions. We take pride in launching national tours from our historic Hippodrome Theatre, reinforcing Baltimore’s status as a Broadway hub outside of New York City. Our city continues to be a prime location for touring productions, a success made possible by our passionate audiences and dedicated subscribers. Their ongoing support enables us to deliver exceptional theater year after year.”
