The Baltimore Museum of Art is thrilled to welcome back Good Folks in the Garden for its second year, in partnership with the Good Folks Happy Hour. This event will be held on the BMA’s West Lawn, where participants can indulge in a Matisse-inspired happy hour amid the beautiful meadow, celebrating the vibrant color and dynamic essence of the iconic artist, Henri Matisse.
Attendees are encouraged to wear bright summer clothing while enjoying the electrifying sounds provided by DJ Face. Guests can savor cocktails from a cash bar, sample delicious offerings from local food trucks, and engage in creative art-making alongside friends.
Embracing joy and fueled by uplifting music, Good Folks in the Garden fosters an inviting environment for relaxation and connection, celebrating the contributions of community members dedicated to making a difference.
Consider this your invitation to step outdoors, embrace the slower pace of summer, and immerse yourself in a vibrant garden experience where art, community, and the season meld seamlessly. The museum will be open until 9 p.m., providing an opportunity to explore the BMA’s esteemed collection along with special exhibits such as Matisse and Martinique: Portraits and Poetry and Fratino and Matisse: To See This Light Again.

In 1996, Baltimore artist Drury Bynum presented three large oil paintings to The Brewer’s Art, immersing them into one of the city’s most cherished venues. For nearly three decades, they hung there, embodying the shared memories and conversations of patrons who pondered their meaning. When The Brewer’s Art ceased operations in early 2025, Bynum reclaimed the paintings.
The exhibition, Last Call, brings these original artworks back together with new pieces from Bynum’s Seraphic Veil series, offering a continuation of the visual dialogue established by these earlier works.
Join us for the opening reception at 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at the Electric Avenue Gallery located in Hampden. The exhibition will be available by appointment through late August.

Tew Years Later features the collaborative efforts of James Phillips, Ernest Shaw, and Charles Mason III, three Black painters from Baltimore representing different generations and connected through mentorship. This evening event at the SNF Parkway Theatre will include meaningful conversation, storytelling, and artistic exchange. Hosted by Arts Collective and The Social Boot Network, the program will also incorporate live performances, communal dining supported by The Mixing Bowl, interactions with local artists and organizations, and a Storytelling Booth inviting attendees to share their experiences. Tickets are available on a sliding scale from $5-$50, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds. Doors open at 4:30 PM, with the program commencing at 5:00 PM.
