Join us for a free, family-oriented book fair and meet-the-author experience on Saturday, Nov. 22, in Wheaton
Montgomery County Public Libraries (MCPL) is excited to announce its first-ever Local Author Showcase, taking place from noon to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the Wheaton Community Recreation Center, located at 11701 Georgia Ave. in Wheaton.
This no-cost, family-friendly event will honor books, storytelling, and community engagement while providing an opportunity for residents to connect with authors from throughout Montgomery County.
“Montgomery County boasts a vibrant community of writers whose narratives represent our collective diversity, curiosity, and creativity,” said County Executive Marc Elrich. “Events like the Local Author Showcase cultivate stronger connections between our residents and their public libraries, which serve as spaces for exploration, connection, and creativity.”
The Showcase will include a Friends of the Library book sale, author tables for personal interactions, as well as panels, discussions, and interactive reading activities. Attendees will also have the chance to network with both fellow writers and readers. To view the list of participating authors and find additional event details, please visit the MCPL website.
“Libraries are the heart where stories flourish and communities unite,” remarked MCPL Director Darcell Graham. “Our Local Author Showcase showcases the remarkable creativity present in Montgomery County and allows readers to discover new local voices.”
Currently, the selection process for authors to participate in this event has concluded. However, writers interested in taking part in future events are encouraged to apply when the 2026 call opens.
