The Indian Cultural Association of Howard County (ICA) is excited to announce the return of the 8th Annual Festival of India, set to take place on the weekend of September 19–20 at the Howard County Fairgrounds. Admission to the festival and parking will be free.
This year’s celebration is themed “250 Years, Countless Stories, One America!,” marking the 250th anniversary of the United States. The Annual Festival of India not only honors Indian heritage but also embraces the diversity of America, emphasizing the multitude of stories that have contributed to the nation’s identity. Additionally, the festival will celebrate 80 years of India’s independence. Attendees can look forward to a variety of cultural experiences showcasing music, dance, art, cuisine, traditions, community involvement, and activities for the entire family.
“America’s narrative consists of diverse stories intricately interwoven,” stated Sanjay Srivastava, the founder and president of the Indian Cultural Association. “As we come together to mark 250 years of our nation, we take pride in sharing the Indian American narrative while celebrating the core values that unite us: community, opportunity, service, diversity, and a sense of belonging.”
Festival-goers will have the chance to gain insight into Indian culture and recognize the substantial contributions of Indian Americans across various sectors in Maryland and the broader United States. These sectors include education, healthcare, technology, business, scientific research, the arts, civic service, and community leadership. The event aims to create opportunities for connection and collaboration among people from diverse backgrounds.
Niti Srivastava, the executive director of the Indian Cultural Association, remarked, “The Festival of India is centered around unity. It serves as a reminder that we can take pride in our roots while also embracing the shared values and experiences that bind us together as Americans.”
Founded with the mission to promote Indian culture and heritage, the ICA strives to foster understanding, inclusion, civic engagement, and community service. Their initiatives include cultural festivals, educational programs, partnerships, and various activities aimed at enhancing the social fabric of Howard County and Maryland. The festival has earned the distinction of being voted the Best Festival in Howard County for four consecutive years according to the Baltimore Sun’s Best of Howard 2026 poll.
The upcoming 8th Annual Festival of India, themed “250 Years, Countless Stories, One America!”, promises highlights including vibrant live Indian music, dynamic dance performances, authentic Indian cuisine, arts and crafts, and family-oriented activities. Attendees will also have the chance to support community vendors, engage with various organizations, and learn about the collective American story through the rich lens of Indian American heritage.
