A feline companion is safe and sound after an alarming attempt by an individual to throw it from a moving vehicle while passing over the Woodrow Wilson Bridge, according to authorities.
Maryland National Capital Park Police received a call on Sunday regarding the incident and promptly responded to the Woodrow Wilson Bridge Trail after a witness expressed their concern.
Upon arrival, officers were successful in locating and rescuing the terrified cat. Fortunately, the animal was uninjured and is now under care.
“We commend the citizen for their prompt action and our officers for their quick response in safeguarding a vulnerable animal. Any form of animal cruelty is taken seriously, and we urge those who observe such acts of abuse or neglect to report them without hesitation,” noted police in their official announcement.
