Wheaton, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both operating under the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have released their event calendar for July 2026.
Members of the community are encouraged to engage with the Planning Board by offering testimony in person, virtually, via phone, or through written comments on agenda items submitted by email no later than 12 noon two business days prior to the meeting. Late submissions will not be part of the official record. Interested parties can reach out for accommodations. Meetings are open for public attendance, and they can also be viewed live or on-demand online, or listened to over the phone. Specific agendas typically become available 10 days before the meeting. The offices of Montgomery Planning and the Planning Board will be closed on July 3 in celebration of Independence Day. Additionally, the Montgomery Planning Information Counter will not be in operation on July 17. It is important to note that the Planning Board will also be in recess for the entire month of August.
July Calendar of Events and Meetings
July 2 – The Planning Board meeting will convene in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902) and will also be accessible online.
July 8 – Team members from Montgomery Planning will participate in the Seneca Valley High School Summer Block Party (19401 Crystal Rock Drive, Germantown, MD 20874) from 5 to 7 p.m. They will provide information about the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment to the local community.
July 9 – Another Planning Board meeting will be held in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902) and available online.
July 9 – The Planning Board will also host the second session of the Growing Smarter in a Changing Climate speaker series, titled “Where Farming Meets the Grid: Agrivoltaics in Action.” This event will take place from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902). Attendance is free and open to the public; while RSVPs are encouraged, they are not mandatory.
July 11 – Montgomery Planning staff will also be present at the Artisans Market taking place at BlackRock Center for the Arts (12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown, MD 20874) from Noon to 4 p.m. They will share insights regarding the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment.
July 14 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will conduct a hybrid meeting. Community members are welcome to attend in person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, MD 20902) or participate online via the DRC live video stream. The DRC, consisting of representatives from various agencies, discusses development applications with applicants during these regularly scheduled meetings, which occur twice each month.
July 15 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold its meeting in person at M-NCPPC’s Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902), with virtual attendance available upon request. Individuals wishing to testify on agenda items should sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the hearing.
July 16 – Another Planning Board meeting is scheduled to take place at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902) and will also be accessible online.
July 16 – Staff from Montgomery Planning will be present at Montgomery Parks’ Playhouse Junior event, held at Wheaton Local Park (11729 Georgia Avenue, Wheaton, MD 20902) from 10 to 11 a.m. They will engage with residents about The Wheaton Plan: A Georgia Avenue Community Plan.
July 21 – Montgomery Planning staff will organize an open house at the BlackRock Center for the Arts (12901 Town Commons Drive, Germantown, MD 20874) from 6 to 8 p.m. to discuss Preliminary Recommendations for the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment.
July 23 – Another Planning Board meeting is on the agenda at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, MD 20902), which will also be available online.
July 23 – Staff from Montgomery Planning will attend the Wheaton Farmer’s Market at Evans Parkway Neighborhood Park (2001 Evans Parkway, Wheaton, MD 20902) from 2 to 6 p.m. They will engage with residents regarding The Wheaton Plan: A Georgia Avenue Community Plan.
