Wheaton, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board along with the Montgomery County Planning Department, both under the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have unveiled their schedule of events and meetings for April 2026.
Community members are welcome to engage in Planning Board meetings through various means, including in-person testimony, virtual testimony, by phone, or by providing written comments regarding specific agenda items via email by noon two business days prior to the meeting. Submissions received after this deadline will not be part of the official record. For information on accessibility accommodations, please contact the Planning Department. Members of the public can attend meetings in-person, view them live or on-demand, or listen in via phone. For specific meeting information, individual agendas are usually made accessible 10 days before each meeting date. April Calendar of Events and Meetings
April 2 – An in-person Planning Board meeting is scheduled at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and will also be available online.
April 7 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet, offering both in-person attendance at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) from 9:30 a.m. to noon, as well as a live video stream option. The DRC consists of an inter-agency task force comprising representatives from Montgomery Planning, State Highway Administration, county departments of Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Transportation, as well as utility companies like WSSC and PEPCO. The committee will discuss various development applications alongside the applicants.
April 8 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will hold a meeting at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) at 7 p.m., with virtual attendance available upon request at the discretion of the Commission Chair. To provide testimony on an agenda item, sign up by 9 a.m. on the day before the meeting.
April 9 – Another Planning Board meeting will be held in-person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
April 15 – The team for Montgomery Planning’s Friendship Heights Sector Plan invites community members to a virtual office hours session on Zoom from 12-1:30 p.m. Participants will have the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the planning team regarding the various aspects of the plan, particularly focusing on parks. Interested individuals can register to receive the Zoom link.
April 16 – The Planning Board will reconvene for an in-person meeting at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
April 21 – The DRC will gather again, providing opportunities for both in-person attendance at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) from 9:30 a.m. to noon, or to watch the DRC live video stream. The committee is tasked with reviewing development applications alongside the applicants.
April 21 – Additionally, Montgomery Planning’s Eastern Silver Spring Communities Plan will host an in-person Preliminary Recommendations Open House at the Long Branch Communication Recreation Center (8700 Piney Branch Road, Silver Spring, Md.) from 5-8 p.m. Community participation is encouraged, and while RSVPs are suggested, they are not mandatory.
April 22 – Another virtual office hours session related to the Friendship Heights Sector Plan will occur on Zoom from 12-1:30 p.m. Community members can engage with the planning team about various topics in detail, particularly focusing on transportation aspects. Interested participants can register for the Zoom link.
April 22 – The HPC will hold a meeting at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) at 7 p.m., with the possibility of virtual attendance upon request as decided by the Commission Chair. Those wishing to testify must sign up by 9 a.m. the prior day.
April 23 – The Planning Board will reconvene for another in-person meeting at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
April 28 – The Friendship Heights Sector Plan team will hold an in-person office hours session at the Wisconsin Avenue Community Recreation Center (5311 Friendship Boulevard, Chevy Chase, Md.) from 5:30-7 p.m. Community members are invited to ask questions and engage with the planning team regarding all aspects of the plan.
April 29 – Montgomery Planning’s team for the Germantown Sector Plan Amendment encourages community members to attend an in-person meeting at the Sidney Kramer Upcounty Regional Services Center (12900 Middlebrook Road, Germantown, Md.) from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. This meeting aims to provide an opportunity for residents to discuss the plan and ensure it aligns with their priorities and aspirations.
April 30 – The final Planning Board meeting of the month will occur in-person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
April 30 – Additionally, the Planning Board will kick off the first event of a three-part speaker series titled “Net Zero that Pencils Out: Normalizing Sustainable Development.” This free event will take place in-person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) from 5:45-7:45 p.m. and is open to the public.
