March has definitely roared in like a lion this year, but local eateries are already embracing the arrival of spring with exciting new dishes and updates. Let’s take a closer look at the vibrant happenings in Baltimore’s dining scene:

New Openings and Enthusiastic Announcements

Baltimore food lovers have been eagerly awaiting updates regarding the post-fire revival and reopening of La Cuchara. Recently, the restaurant team took to social media to inform patrons that the reconstruction is still in progress and that La Cuchara is on track to reopen later this year.

In the meantime, the skilled team behind La Cuchara has been busy with another exciting venture: Seppia, an Italian dining establishment that is set to take over the former Five and Dime location in Hampden. Seppia is now in its final stages of development and is expected to open its doors in April.

Congratulations are in order for Brookside Market, which recently celebrated its eighth anniversary with a fantastic party last week.

Meanwhile, Mindpub Café is up for sale – but don’t worry, it’s not closing. The owners are seeking the right individuals to take over the business as they shift focus to other projects.

St. Patrick’s Season is Here

The beginning of March heralds the arrival of St. Patrick’s Day celebrations for many residents in Baltimore.

Guinness Baltimore is leading the charge in St. Pat’s festivities, with events kicking off this weekend and continuing for several weeks. This year, Guinness is transforming the brewery lawn into an Irish Village, complete with live music, special tastings, and engaging classes, such as a tutorial on pouring the perfect Guinness pint and a “Jigs and Swigs” Irish dance session set for Thursday, March 12.

Diners can also enjoy a wider variety of traditional Irish cuisine, alongside exclusive beer releases and fun merchandise throughout the festivities.

Of course, Guinness isn’t the only venue getting into the Irish spirit. THB will debut lucky green and orange bagels on March 14, with 50 cents from each sale going to the Maryland SPCA.

The Corner Pantry is also celebrating with its drink of the month: a “lucky” mint matcha featuring vanilla mint syrup and turmeric cold foam.

Supporting Charles Village

From now until March 22, customers who make purchases or write online reviews for participating Charles Village shops or restaurants will be entered into a weekly drawing for a chance to win $500, along with a grand prize drawing for a $1500 staycation.

The promotion is organized by the Charles Village Community Benefits District and includes numerous restaurant and food industry members such as Blueprint Café, BoZ’s Burgers, Gertrude’s, Motzi Bread, Charm City Food Co, and Dear Charles at The Study at Johns Hopkins.

Origins Featuring Third Way Farm

This week, Woodberry Kitchen’s acclaimed Origins discussion series returns, kicking off on Wednesday, March 11. This month, chef Spike Gjerde and his team will welcome Tommy Shireman of Third Way Farm for an enlightening conversation about regenerative agriculture and the critical role of soil health.

Upcoming Spring Menus

As the weather begins to warm up slightly, local restaurants are unveiling their fresh spring menus.

Be sure to check out the new offerings at Sally O’s, Midlina, and Kneads Bakeshop this week, and keep an eye out for even more delightful menus rolling out across the city in the upcoming weeks.
