BALTIMORE — The holiday pop-up market taking place on York Road this Friday is just one of the exciting initiatives spearheaded by the York Road Improvement District. This event serves as a vibrant platform for supporting local businesses and offers a chance for last-minute gift shopping or discovering a potential new business venture.

Over the past two years, Samuel Storey and the York Road Improvement District have been committed to revitalizing the neighborhood.

Their efforts have included cleaner streets, the installation of surveillance cameras for enhanced safety, and increased visibility for businesses in the area.

Storey shared with WMAR-2 News that collaborative efforts have already begun to yield positive results for the area.

“We’ve partnered to attract some truly exciting new businesses, including a new bakery, Raspberry Moments, which will be located south of Cold Spring, and Munchies Cafe, a brand-new cafe just up the street,” Storey mentioned.

However, this journey is just beginning.

On Friday, the improvement district will host a holiday pop-up market featuring products from over 25 local businesses, providing a wide array of options for shoppers.

“This venue was formerly the Full Tilt brewing space, which closed its doors about three years ago. We are revitalizing this space to offer fresh opportunities for local micro-businesses while bringing life back to an area that has been vacant,” Storey added.

Considering the potential for business redevelopment, we inquired about the possibility of a long-term tenant for the former Full Tilt brewing location.

“As it stands, there is no established long-term plan for that space. However, we are optimistic that this event and those in the near future may stir interest and excitement for what could possibly develop there,” Storey explained.

The York Road Improvement District is committed to supporting both new and existing tenants, aided by a significant grant of $100,000 from the Maryland Department of Housing and Community Development.

“This grant is designed to assist both current businesses and newcomers occupying vacant storefronts. It will help them enhance their interiors to create a more inviting atmosphere for customers,” Storey remarked.

This holiday pop-up market will continue until Saturday, offering community members an opportunity to shop local and support their neighborhoods.
