• Sewer Main Collapse Causes Sinkhole Near School (patch.com) — Residents of Germantown are facing road closures and a sinkhole after a 30-inch sewer main collapsed outside Germantown Elementary School early Thursday. WSSC crews have set up a 1,000-foot temporary bypass, assuring that drinking water remains safe. However, Liberty Mill Road will remain closed as long-term sewer repairs are expedited through mid-April, impacting traffic and school schedules.
• One Injured in Shooting at Giant Grocery Store in Germantown (fox5dc.com) — A man was shot inside the Giant Food store on Leaman Farm Road in Germantown Friday night and was transported to the hospital with injuries that are not life-threatening. Police have secured the scene, but no suspect has yet been apprehended or described, and investigations are ongoing to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting.
