PERRYVILLE, Md. — A woman from New Jersey has filed a lawsuit alleging serious neck injuries sustained on a water slide at Great Wolf Lodge located in Cecil County.
The legal action claims negligence on the part of the company.
Natasha Collova states that her injuries occurred on March 19, 2024, while she was riding the Mountain Edge Raceway water slide at Great Wolf Perryville.
According to her court documents, Collova positioned herself on her stomach while gripping a mat as she descended the slide head-first.
During this descent, she allegedly struck her head against the slide, which resulted in “violent hyperextension” of her neck, prompting a visit to the Emergency Room, as detailed in the lawsuit.
Collova’s legal representatives from the Pennsylvania-based firm Andreozzi and Foote contend that Great Wolf Lodge had prior knowledge of the hazards associated with the slide yet took no action to mitigate them.
“The primary assertion in the lawsuit is that this incident was not an isolated case,” stated Andreozzi and Foote in a press release. “The complaint claims that Great Wolf Lodge and its associated entities were aware of previous injuries experienced by guests on the Mountain Edge Raceway prior to Collova’s experience.”
The lawsuit aims to investigate whether Great Wolf adequately inspected and maintained the water slide and whether adequate warnings about its risks were communicated to guests.
“Businesses that welcome the public onto their properties hold a legal obligation to exercise reasonable care, ensuring their premises are maintained in a safe condition and addressing known hazards,” Andreozzi and Foote stated further.
This case has been filed in the Cecil County Circuit Court and is officially marked as case number C-07-CV-26-000353.
Online legal documents indicate a court summons was issued on July 24, although it remains unclear whether it has been served.
Generally, Great Wolf does not require visitors to sign liability waivers for regular access to the water park.
The company has not yet provided a response to our request for comment.
