Johns Hopkins University is excited to announce that, for the fifth consecutive year, it will host a temporary ice rink on its Homewood campus. This winter attraction will be open for a six-week period, commencing on Friday, January 9, and continuing until Sunday, February 22, weather permitting.

The pop-up rink will return to the same location as in previous years: the parking lot situated behind the Imagine Center for Integrative Learning and Life Design, which was previously the U.S. Lacrosse headquarters. The address is 113 W. University Parkway, near San Martin Drive.

This year’s skating season will once again provide free skating sessions for both the university community and the broader Baltimore area, making it an inclusive winter activity.

As reported by the JHU Hub, weekday skating sessions will be dedicated to Hopkins affiliates, including faculty, staff, and students. In contrast, weekend slots will be available for both Hopkins affiliates and the general public. Each skating session lasts 90 minutes and must be reserved in advance. Participants are required to sign a waiver for admission, and anyone under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Complimentary skates and refreshments will be available, but attendees are also welcome to bring their own skates.

This season will feature special evening sessions themed around popular culture icons, including nights dedicated to Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, and Harry Potter, as well as a unique “Seniors on Ice” evening. Additionally, Hopkins affiliates can take advantage of beginner skating lessons offered by the JHU Figure Skating Club.

Operating hours on weekends for both Hopkins affiliates and the general public are set for Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. For Hopkins affiliates, weekday hours will be Monday through Thursday from noon to 7:30 p.m., and Fridays from noon to 11:30 p.m.

The rink will feature extended hours during the Opening Weekend, providing additional skating opportunities from January 9 to 11. Specifically, on Friday, January 9, the rink will be open from noon to 11:30 p.m. exclusively for JHU affiliates. On Saturday, January 10, and Sunday, January 11, it will operate from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m. for both JHU affiliates and the general public. Furthermore, there will be extended hours on Martin Luther King Jr. Day, January 19, from 8 a.m. to 11:30 p.m., open to everyone.

Online registration is currently available, allowing participants to secure their skating spots up to three weeks in advance. For further details and to reserve tickets, please visit [Johns Hopkins Ice Rink at Homewood](https://www.jhu.edu/johns-hopkins-ice-rink-at-homewood/).
