Laperaux, The Journeyman’s Bistro, has officially closed its doors in Germantown, marking the end of nearly three years of operation.
This charming French bistro first opened in February 2020 at 18056 Mateny Rd., located within the Cloppers Mill shopping center. Over the years, the venue has hosted various establishments, including Gumbo Ya Ya, Dickie’s BBQ Pit, and Café Mileto, and shares its strip with the recently shuttered Shoppers Food Warehouse.
The closure arrives just a month before Laperaux was set to celebrate its third anniversary. Owner and chef Gregory Webb expressed his emotions in a heartfelt message regarding the decision to close, reflecting on the restaurant’s journey.
In his statement, Webb noted that Laperaux “has served its last meals at Clopper’s Mill,” describing the past three years as “an exciting ride” filled with new friendships and community ties. He emphasized that with the arrival of the new year, it was time to close this chapter and look forward, expressing gratitude to everyone who supported the restaurant throughout its journey.
Webb shared that Laperaux represented the realization of a lifelong dream to own a family bistro. He fondly recalled watching his sons grow up in the restaurant, where they learned the ins and outs of running a full-service establishment, managing staff, and caring for guests, all while perfecting dishes like chocolate mousse.
As for future plans, Webb mentioned that there are no immediate goals set, but he and his family are committed to continuing their support for the community they built through Laperaux. He indicated that once things settle down, they will explore new opportunities ahead.
For those who miss Laperaux’s beloved dishes, such as the Boeuf Bourguignon, Webb has published a cookbook titled Bistro Essentials, Old School Classics, which is now available on Amazon.
