National Pet Day is set for Saturday, April 11, 2026, and in honor of this special occasion, the Maryland SPCA and Banfield Pet Hospital are organizing a free community event at the Dorsey’s Search Village Center in Ellicott City.
The first-ever National Pet Day Celebration promises to be both family- and dog-friendly, inviting everyone to bring their beloved pets for a day filled with fun. Attendees can enjoy live music provided by a DJ, browse offerings from local vendors, partake in games, enter pet contests, and win various prizes. This exciting event is made possible through the sponsorship of VCA Animal Hospital and Banfield Pet Hospital.
Participants will have the chance to meet dogs that are available for adoption, gather information on responsible pet ownership, and converse with local animal care professionals. Notably, a portion of the proceeds from the event will support the Maryland SPCA, an organization dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating, and rehoming animals in need. Additionally, VCA Animal Hospital has committed to matching donations made on National Pet Day dollar-for-dollar, up to $7,000.
John Pezzulla, regional vice president of property management for Kimco Realty, expressed pride in partnering with the Maryland SPCA, Banfield Pet Hospital, and VCA Animal Hospital for this important initiative. Dorsey’s Search Village Center is managed by an affiliate of Kimco Realty.
“Dorsey’s Search Village Center has always been a welcoming environment for pets and their owners, making this event a natural fit,” Pezzulla noted. “It is a great opportunity to bring the community together, celebrate the joy that pets add to our lives, and facilitate connections between deserving animals and caring families.”
Founded in 1869, the Maryland SPCA successfully finds homes for over 2,400 cats and dogs annually while also providing vital pet retention and outreach programs to the community.
The National Pet Day Celebration is scheduled to occur from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Dorsey’s Search Village Center, located at 4765 Dorsey Hall Dr., Ellicott City, MD.
