In collaboration with the Baltimore City Department of Public Works (DPW), Baltimore City Department of Transportation (DOT), and the Mayor’s Office of Community Affairs, Scott is urging individuals, volunteer groups, and community organizations to join this important citywide initiative aimed at enhancing the beauty of local neighborhoods and fostering community pride. Interested participants can register now by dialing 3-1-1 or by visiting the mayor’s Spring Cleanup page.

“Cleanup days are my favorite days of the year as they allow us to unite in pride for our neighborhoods,” stated Scott. “The Spring Cleanup not only helps make Baltimore cleaner and greener, but it also prepares us for the warmer months ahead. I encourage all residents, no matter where they live, to roll up their sleeves and collaborate with their neighbors in this important citywide effort.”

“The Mayor’s Spring Cleanup highlights how essential teamwork is to cultivating clean and healthy neighborhoods,” emphasized DPW Director Matthew Garbark. “When residents, volunteers, and City staff join forces, we not only strengthen our communities but also enhance the relationships that support them throughout the year. This initiative represents our long-standing commitment to neighborhood engagement, showcasing the substantial impact we can achieve when Baltimore comes together with a unified goal of cleanliness.”

Individuals and groups are encouraged to complete their registration soon, as the deadline to sign up is April 18, 2026. In addition to calling 311 or visiting the mayor’s Spring Cleanup page, participants can also register online at the 311 website. Businesses and groups can also sponsor predetermined mayoral site locations by providing volunteers and/or refreshments, by completing a sponsorship form in advance.

Registered individuals and communities can request debris removal during the cleanup event. City trucks will coordinate visits to designated areas, ensuring that bags of trash are collected after 1 p.m. Residents participating individually should ensure their collected bags are placed out with their regular trash on collection days.

  • 2840 Sisson St., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday through Saturday
  • 111 Kane St., 9 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday through Friday

Participants will need to provide a service request number when picking up their bags. Residents choosing to drop off collected trash at the Residential Drop-Off Centers must follow the centers’ guidelines and should note that commercial vehicles are not permitted. During the cleanup, the DPW will not collect bulk trash or roll-off dumpsters.

LEARNING HOURS AND COMMUNITY CREDITS

Students taking part in the Mayor’s Spring Cleanup Day have the opportunity to earn service-learning hours. To qualify for up to four hours of credit, students in grades 3 through 12 must engage in a cleaning or greening activity organized by the Department of Public Works, a school, or a registered volunteer group. To request a Service-Learning Verification Form, interested individuals should contact Keita Wells via email at Keita.Wells@baltimorecity.gov.

Adult participants can also see benefits from their involvement. Residents may qualify for a stormwater fee credit by participating in a registered Volunteer Community Cleanup. Eligibility requires registering the cleanup with 311. Participants will receive a Stormwater Fee Credit application and certificate sent to the email or mailing address provided on their Volunteer Registration Form. For every completed certificate returned with the application, volunteers will earn a $10 credit, with a maximum of three certificates eligible for a total of $30 in annual credits. More information is available on the Stormwater Fee page on the DPW website, or residents can call (410) 361-9174 to inquire with Watershed Planning and Partnerships.
