Five employers from Maryland, including three located in Montgomery County, have earned recognition in the 2026 Best Workplaces in Health Care rankings by Fortune and Great Place To Work. The list, published on October 13, is determined by confidential employee feedback that assesses workplace culture and overall employee experience. To qualify for the rankings, companies must hold Great Place To Work Certification. It’s important to note that these rankings focus on the work environment rather than the quality of patient care or healthcare services provided.
Among the large employers, Maryland had two companies featured, while three were recognized in the small and medium employer categories. Aledade, based in Bethesda, secured the 14th position among large employers. Established in 2014, Aledade is a physician-led public benefit corporation dedicated to value-based care, collaborating with over 3,000 primary care partners across 46 states and Washington, D.C., and supporting care for more than 3 million patients. The company employs over 1,600 individuals. Another notable mention is Maxim Healthcare, headquartered in Columbia, which ranked 17th on the large employers list. Founded in 1988, Maxim specializes in home and community-based healthcare services, including skilled nursing, personal care, behavioral therapy, and support for military and federal families.
In the small and medium employers category, three additional Maryland companies were recognized. Welldoc, located in Columbia, ranked 27th. This health technology firm operates an AI-driven digital health platform that focuses on cardiometabolic care, addressing conditions such as diabetes, obesity, hypertension, and heart failure. Germantown’s own Rehab 2 Perform achieved the 28th spot, providing physical therapy and sports rehabilitation services across more than 15 locations in the D.C., Maryland, and Virginia area, including specialized services like concussion management and pelvic health. Lastly, Bethesda-based LucyRx took the 31st position, offering pharmacy benefits to employers with a focus on transparent pricing, coverage design, analytics, clinical support, and specialty care coordination.
With Aledade and LucyRx in Bethesda and Rehab 2 Perform in Germantown, it’s clear that Montgomery County is home to a significant portion of Maryland’s top-rated workplaces in the healthcare sector.
