The schedule for two exciting festivals has been revealed, highlighting Baltimore’s festival calendar for 2026: Charm City Live and the Baltimore Book Festival.
Mayor Brandon Scott, alongside the Mayor’s Office of Arts, Culture and Entertainment (MOACE), announced that Charm City Live will return for its fifth iteration on Labor Day weekend, scheduled for Saturday, September 5, 2026. This annual event celebrates the rich tapestry of music, culture, and community within Baltimore.
The Baltimore Book Festival is set to enliven the weekend of September 19 – 20, 2026, providing a platform for authors, readers, and literary enthusiasts to engage in a weekend dedicated to exploration and appreciation of literature. Established in 1996, this festival was born out of Mayor Kurt Schmoke’s initiative, “The City That Reads.”
Both festivals will serve as cornerstones for a month-long celebration of Baltimore’s cultural vibrancy, highlighting local music, literature, and businesses. In fostering the city’s cultural economy, these events are poised to create memorable experiences for both residents and visitors alike.
Strategically spaced across the September calendar, the festivals aim to enhance attendance, shore up promotional efforts, and allow time for detailed planning and coordination. The intent is to maximize the benefits for artists, authors, performers, vendors, local enterprises, and city agencies.
“The narrative of Baltimore has always been intrinsically linked to its artists, musicians, authors, and creative visionaries,” remarked Scott. “Charm City Live and the Baltimore Book Festival embody the talent, culture, and community that define our city. By continuing our investment in Baltimore’s creative economy, these events will fortify neighborhoods, support local businesses, and draw attendees from across the region to experience the best our city offers.”
Charm City Live is a complimentary outdoor extravaganza that showcases the diverse artists, musicians, entrepreneurs, and neighborhoods that contribute to Baltimore’s cultural richness. Attendees can anticipate a day filled with local flavors, cultural experiences, and immense community pride.
The Baltimore Book Festival attracts a wide array of renowned authors, local writers, independent bookstores, literary organizations, and readers of all ages. Over the weekend, guests can look forward to engaging discussions, book signings, family-oriented activities, and literary discoveries. The festival exemplifies the ethos of “The City That Reads,” highlighting Baltimore’s esteemed literary legacy and fostering connections through storytelling and diverse perspectives.
“Both Charm City Live and the Baltimore Book Festival showcase the various dimensions of Baltimore’s vibrant creative landscape,” said Linzy Jackson, director of MOACE. “Together, these events provide a wonderful opportunity to honor our artists, authors, performers, and neighborhoods while reinforcing the artistic traditions and creative infrastructure that make Baltimore an inspiring place to live and visit.”
Additional information regarding programming, participating individuals, and vendors will be shared in the months leading up to the festivals.
