Discover Your Town’s Snow Totals in MD: How Much Did You Get?

Share

For several days, meteorologists in Maryland predicted that the Baltimore area would receive at least 10 inches of snow, and their forecasts proved accurate.

Snowfall totals across various towns indicate that many counties experienced significant accumulation, with Grantsville in Garrett County reporting the highest total of 12.3 inches as of 6:30 a.m. on Monday.

Experts noted that this storm marks the most substantial snowfall the Baltimore-DC region has seen in a decade.

The snow is expected to linger for some time, as temperatures are forecasted to remain below freezing until early February, following a drop below freezing on January 23.

Additionally, there is a possibility of another storm impacting the East Coast this coming weekend.

“While it’s premature to predict significant weather effects, several reliable computer models showed a trend towards a stormier forecast early on Monday, suggesting that a weekend storm could be on the horizon,” reported The Washington Post’s Capital Weather Gang. “This cold weather pattern is conducive to snow, but the development of a weekend storm hinges on a swirling disturbance near Hudson Bay in Canada that is expected to move southward and stall near the East Coast. This complex weather scenario may lead to fluctuating forecasts in the coming days. If another storm materializes, areas already affected by snow and ice this weekend could see even more accumulation.”

A cold weather advisory is currently in effect from 7 p.m. Monday until 11 a.m. Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service. Wind chills are expected to plummet to between 5 and 8 degrees below zero in Baltimore, DC, and much of Maryland, as well as northern and northwest Virginia.

The National Weather Service warns that these extreme wind chills could lead to hypothermia if proper precautions are not taken. An Arctic air mass will keep the region in a deep freeze throughout the week.

Below are the snowfall totals, measured in inches, reported by the National Weather Service as of Monday morning for various areas in Maryland:
