FOX 5 DC’s beloved Zip Trip summer series is set to make its only Southern Maryland appearance in Indian Head on Friday, July 31, as part of the 2026 itinerary.
This annual event spotlights various communities throughout the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area through live broadcasts, interviews with local residents and business owners, as well as features on distinctive local attractions. Indian Head, located in Charles County, is among 20 selected destinations across Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia.
Nestled alongside the Potomac River, Indian Head boasts a rich military heritage, stemming from its history as a former naval proving ground. Alongside its historical significance, the town is known for its recreational waterfront activities and charming small-town atmosphere. Previous Zip Trip features have successfully showcased local businesses and initiatives.
Earlier appearances of the Southern Maryland Zip Trip have included highlights from La Plata, focusing on the revitalization of the county seat’s downtown and its historic courthouse, as well as Leonardtown, which was recognized for its dynamic arts scene and beautiful waterfront along the St. Mary’s River. Such visits have notably enhanced the visibility of the tri-county area, contributing positively to local economies.
On July 31, FOX 5 anchors and reporters will converge on Indian Head to showcase the town’s access to the Potomac River, significant historical sites, and community projects.
