Discover La Jetée: Baltimore’s Exciting New All-Day Dining Spot!

Share

Residents of Baltimore are familiar with this dilemma: You invite friends to visit on a Sunday, but your favorite restaurants are closed. Or you swing by your go-to coffee shop on a Tuesday morning, only to find it dark and shuttered.

Enter La Jetée, a brilliant new addition to Harbor Point that aims to resolve these concerns.

The brainchild of chef and restaurateur Spike Gjerde, known for Woodberry Kitchen, La Jetée seamlessly blends the culinary traditions of Southern France with locally-sourced produce, as well as fresh Chesapeake seafood and shellfish.

This charming French bistro offers all-day dining, open seven days a week. Whether you’re looking for a quick coffee and croissant to take away, a glass of wine with a light snack, or a sit-down three-course meal to commemorate a special event, you can enjoy it all while taking in breathtaking harbor views. La Jetée embodies the casual joy of dining at a café in Provence right here in Baltimore.

Breakfast

The La Jetée Matin coffee bar opens daily until 2:00 p.m., getting started at 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and 8:00 a.m. on weekends. In addition to a wide variety of espresso beverages, La Jetée Matin features teas and decadent hot chocolate. Each day, enjoy a rotating selection of freshly baked pastries—including croissants, kouign amann, and scones.

If you prefer a sit-down experience, breakfast service is available from 7:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. Consider savoring soft scrambled eggs with fresh herbs or indulging in ‘pain perdu,’ a luxurious brioche French toast topped with mascarpone and roasted pear compote.

Lunch (and Brunch)

Lunchtime at La Jetée runs on weekdays from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Here, you’ll find a delightful array of options, including baguette sandwiches, salads, and heartier fare. For those with tight schedules, a special $15 in 15 minutes “express” menu is offered alongside an option for a relaxed two- or three-course prix fixe.

During weekends, breakfast transitions into a lively brunch served from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Indulge in sweet and savory buttermilk crepes featuring pear compote, salted caramel, and whipped cream, or lobster with bechamel and chervil. A classic croque madame is served with a sunny-side egg, country ham, and crispy home fries.

Happy Hour

During the week, La Jetée’s bar area offers a delightful happy hour from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Guests can enjoy select local beers for $5, wines sourced from Maryland’s Old Westminster Winery for $10, and a range of discounted small plates. Tasty options include crispy chickpea fries (panisse), rosemary olive oil flatbreads (pissaladière), and fresh raw bar selections such as oysters, mussels, and clams.

If you’re looking for a lively atmosphere, don’t miss Thursdays! Local band Petite Fleur brings their infectious Django Reinhardt-inspired jazz to the bar from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Dinner

La Jetée invites you to enjoy dinner seven nights a week, whether you’re after a quick bite or an extraordinary meal to mark a special occasion.

For a casual outing, enjoy a burger or a delicious plate of mussels and fries at the bar. For a more luxurious experience, consider ordering a grand shellfish plateau to share, followed by standout dishes like yellowfin tuna au poivre, steak frites, or lamb shank Provençal. Begin your meal with an apéritif such as a refreshing spritz or a pastis, and explore the well-curated wine list that features selections from both France and elsewhere. For dessert, indulge in rich mousse au chocolat or profiteroles infused with Grand Marnier ice cream and drizzled with warm chocolate sauce.

If your evening extends into the night, rest assured La Jetée is ready with fresh coffee in the morning.
