This week, Baltimore’s seafood community mourns the loss of an influential figure, Mark Pappas. A Greek immigrant who arrived in the U.S. during the mid-50s, Pappas was the visionary behind Pappas Restaurant, renowned for its multiple locations throughout the Baltimore area and a successful mail-order business that ships its famous crab cakes nationwide.
The local dining scene will deeply miss him, along with everyone who has savored a Pappas crab cake.
21st Annual Oyster Tasting on Thames
On Saturday, November 29, Kooper’s Tavern and Slainte Pub will join forces for the 21st annual Oyster Tasting. Organized in collaboration with the Oyster Recovery Partnership, this event promises an abundance of oysters sourced from both the Chesapeake region and beyond.
Silver Queen Café Celebrates a Decade
This Saturday marks the 10-year anniversary of Silver Queen Café, and they’re throwing a celebration with a party. Kicking off at 5 p.m., guests can enjoy $10 specialty cocktails and delectable small plates, along with exciting giveaways, including gift cards, wine, and spirits.
At 8 p.m., the team will raise a toast to the community’s support and the café’s success with a celebratory champagne toast. Congratulations to the Silver Queen family!
Small Business Saturday
This Saturday is also significant for locally-owned businesses. Several establishments will gather at 1 N. Haven St. to host a Hometown Holiday Bazaar, showcasing vendors, live music, axe throwing, and delicious food and beverages provided by Old Line Spirits, R. House, Motte, Monument City Brewing, and Key Brewing.
Additionally, R. House will feature a Maker’s Market, highlighting a variety of artisans and vendors amidst a backdrop of fantastic food and drinks.

At Power Plant Live!, the holiday festivities commence with the Miracle Market on Sunday, November 30. This family-friendly event will feature numerous vendors, a charming tree lighting ceremony, and plenty of opportunities to eat and drink.
To honor the upcoming holiday party season, Ammoora will be open for lunch on Thursdays from now through Christmas.
Holiday Monument Lighting
The iconic lighting of Baltimore’s Washington Monument will take place on Thursday, December 4. One of the best viewing spots for the event is at Topside, the rooftop restaurant located within Hotel Revival.
In honor of this occasion, Topside will host a ticketed celebration featuring an open bar, food stations, and live jazz music to set a festive mood. The hotel’s first-floor venues, Intro Lounge and B-Side, will also be open on Thursday, showcasing a DJ and seasonal cocktails.
