Celebrate Pi Day: Join the Fun with Delicious Pies, New Friends, and Local Farmers!

Share

Love pie? How about a celebration of pi? Join the Farmers Market Supper Club for a delightful Pi Day Party on Saturday, March 14 (3.14), and all residents of Baltimore are warmly invited. Just remember to bring along a pie!

The Farmers Market Supper Club connects the vibrant market culture of the city with its enthusiastic shoppers and residents. This casual community event celebrates the joy of pi (3.14), where the only requirement for entry is to bring a pie to share.

Though no one really needs a reason to enjoy pie, this gathering captures the essence of the mathematical holiday with a relaxed potluck atmosphere. Guests are encouraged to bring one pie, whether it’s sweet or savory. Options can include traditional fruit pies, chess pies, quiches, pizzas, or hearty pot pies.

Infinite pie or infinite pi?

“This event is about more than just delicious food; it’s about the connections among the people who prepare it,” explained Charlie Urrutia, an organizer for the Farmers Market Supper Club. “In a lively city like Baltimore, we aim to create a welcoming environment where neighbors can share not only their pies but also stories and laughter, free from the stress of competition. If it’s round-ish and tasty, it’s welcome on our table.”

The supper club serves a dual purpose: to unite local home cooks while also promoting regional farming. Participants are encouraged to use at least one ingredient sourced from a local Baltimore farmers market. The atmosphere is friendly and laid-back, fostering community ties through friendships and a strong commitment to supporting Maryland’s farmers.

For those who may have mixed feelings about math, “pi” stands for the mathematical symbol represented by the Greek letter (π), denoting the ratio of a circle’s circumference to its diameter. This number remains constant across all circles, extending infinitely, although it’s often simplified to 3.14. Pi Day, celebrated on March 14, is recognized worldwide. For curious minds, the Pi Day website offers the first million digits of pi for those who wish to explore further.

The Farmers Market Supper Club’s Pi Day Party and potluck will be hosted at The Wine Collective on Saturday, March 14, 2026, from 2 to 4 p.m. To ensure a variety of pies and to make arrangements for everyone, please RSVP.

The Wine Collective is situated at 1700 W. 41st St., Suite 490, Baltimore, MD.
