Adams Morgan: Mola, a vibrant neighborhood spot specializing in empanadas and iconic Panamanian Caribbean cuisine, has officially closed its doors this July. This culinary venture began five years ago as a popular pop-up at 3 Stars Brewing. 2438 18th Street NW
Bethesda, Maryland: Gold Bunny Donuts shut down on July 9, barely months into its operation, after receiving a lease termination notice, according to MoCo Show. The establishment opened in late 2025 at Westfield Montgomery Mall and replaced Donutchew, offering a delightful array of cream-filled doughnuts in flavors like Biscoff and matcha. Chinatown: HipCityVeg, a popular vegan restaurant chain originally from Philadelphia, has closed its final location in the D.C. area after ten years of service near Capital One Arena. Previously, its other locations in Dupont Circle and Navy Yard went out of business earlier this year. Menu offerings included a smokehouse burger made with Beyond Meat, crispy chick’n ranch, green smoothies, and soy milkshakes. A sign on the door read, “See you in Philly.” 712 7th Street NW
Dupont Circle: Taïm, the New York City-based chain specializing in Israeli street food, abruptly closed its only D.C. location this July. Known for its flavorful falafel, eggplant pitas, and saffron aioli fries, Taïm’s closure was noted by Popville. The brand made its debut in D.C. in 2019 with a location in Georgetown, later opening in Dupont in 2020. Former Washington Post food critic Tom Sietsema once celebrated it as achieving “falafel nirvana.” The closure may be attributed to lane closures along Connecticut Avenue NW, reported to have disrupted business. 1514 Connecticut Avenue NW
Leesburg, Virginia: Noodles & Company has exited Loudoun County, closing its 2,700-square-foot location at the Village at Leesburg. Previously, a location in Sterling was converted to a Chiko. Staff members confirmed that the Herndon, Virginia location at Village Center at Dulles is also set to close on July 28, according to reports from the Burn. 1607 Village Market Boulevard, Leesburg, Virginia
Multiple locations: Pressed Juicery, a popular chain recognized for its cold-pressed juices and vegan offerings, has shut down its D.C. locations in both Logan Circle and Georgetown, signaling the end of its presence in the mid-Atlantic. Rockville, Maryland: In June, Hot Pot Kitchen permanently shut its doors, as reported by MoCo Show. Recently, a local food blogger discovered new signage indicating that Aria Restaurant Grill and Kabob will soon be opening at that location. 595 Hungerford Drive, Rockville, Maryland
Sterling, Virginia: After roughly a year in business, the Northern Virginia eatery Taco Chinoz & Bar closed in early July within the Parc City Center shopping plaza along Route 7. Despite its closure, the restaurant, which creatively fused Korean and Mexican cuisines, continues to operate in Centreville and Alexandria.
