Montgomery County Police Probe Suspicious Death of 87-Year-Old at Senior Living Center

Emergency responders were dispatched to the Cogir Potomac Senior Living community in Potomac due to a medical crisis. Sadly, the man was declared deceased on-site after first responders made attempts to revive him.

Montgomery County law enforcement is examining the death of an 87-year-old resident of Potomac, Maryland, as a homicide. The individual was discovered unresponsive on Saturday morning within the senior living facility.

According to police reports, officers and emergency rescue teams responded to the Cogir Potomac facility located on the 10800 block of Potomac Tennis Lane, adjacent to the Falls Road Golf Course, after receiving a call about a medical emergency around 7:34 a.m.

Despite the efforts by first responders to administer life-saving measures, the man was pronounced dead at the scene, as stated by police.

Authorities have categorized the investigation as a homicide. The deceased’s body was transferred to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

The police noted that additional information will be shared once family members have been informed.

Heidi Brashear, the Senior Vice President of Marketing and Engagement at Cogir Senior Living, informed WTOP that the facility is collaborating with law enforcement throughout the investigation.

“We are profoundly saddened by the loss of one of our residents. Our thoughts are with the family and close friends during this challenging time,” Brashear remarked. “We are entirely committed to assisting the authorities and will continue to support their investigation in any way possible.”

“The safety and welfare of our residents and team members remains our top priority,” she emphasized.
