Wheaton, Md. – lock and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both affiliated with The Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have released their calendar of events and meetings for January 2026.
Community members are welcome to engage in Planning Board meetings by providing in-person testimony, participating virtually, calling in, or submitting written feedback on specific agenda items via email by noon two business days before a meeting. Any submissions after this cutoff will not be part of the official record. For information on accessibility accommodations, please reach out to us. Interested individuals can attend meetings in person, watch them live or on-demand, or listen via phone. Meeting agendas are typically posted 10 days prior to each session. The Montgomery County Planning Department and Planning Board will be closed on January 1 for New Year’s Day and on January 19 for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Consequently, no Planning Board meeting will occur on January 1, with regular meetings resuming on January 8.
January Calendar of Events and Meetings
January 7 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will convene in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) at 7 p.m. A virtual option will be accessible upon request at the discretion of the Commission Chair. To provide testimony on agenda items, please sign up no later than 9 a.m. on the day before the meeting.
January 8 – The Planning Board will hold its meeting in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) as well as online.
January 13 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet, with the option to attend in person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) or to watch the live video stream. The DRC, which consists of representatives from Montgomery Planning, the State Highway Administration, and county departments, will discuss development applications alongside the applicants.
January 15 – The Planning Board meeting will take place in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) as well as online.
January 21 – Another meeting of the Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will be held in person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) at 7 p.m., with a virtual option available upon request at the discretion of the Commission Chair. To provide testimony, sign up by 9 a.m. the day prior to the meeting.
January 22 – The Planning Board will convene once more in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
January 27 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet, providing options for in-person attendance at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) or via live video stream. The DRC continues to work as an inter-agency task force discussing development applications with various stakeholders.
January 29 – The Planning Board will wrap up the month with a meeting, held in person at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online.
