This weekend promises an array of exciting activities throughout Germantown, Montgomery County, with events taking place both all weekend and for a single day. Motorists should be aware of upcoming road closures and changes to traffic patterns prior to hitting the road.
City residents eager to visit the Baltimore Farmers’ Market on Sunday morning, cheer for the Ravens in their home matchup against the Titans in the afternoon, or partake in the 60th annual Fells Point Fun Festival all weekend long will find essential traffic information below to help navigate the area.
FELLS POINT FUN FESTIVAL
Oct. 2–4
From approximately 11 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 2 until 11 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 4, several roadways will experience closures, accompanied by detours and parking restrictions.
- Thames Street between S. Caroline and Wolfe Streets
- Broadway between Aliceanna and Thames Streets
- Ann Street between Lancaster and Thames Streets (partially closed at Ann and Aliceanna Streets for local access)
- Bond Street between Shakespeare and Thames Streets
- Lancaster Street between S. Regester Street and Broadway
- Fells Street between Thames Street and 914 Fells Street
Parking restrictions will also apply along the 1600 block of Lancaster St. during the following times:
- Oct. 2, 5–9 p.m.
- Oct. 3, 11 a.m.–7 p.m.
- Oct. 4, 12–5 p.m.
The Baltimore City Department of Transportation strongly encourages the use of public transit and advises against parking in residential areas, where vehicles parked in violation of regulations will be ticketed and towed. Residents with inquiries regarding their vehicles can contact 311 for support.
BALTIMORE RAVENS’ HOME GAME AT M&T BANK STADIUM
Sunday, Oct. 4, 1 p.m.
In anticipation of Sunday’s game, several road and lane closures will take effect starting at about 8 a.m.:
- The northbound Russell Street Service Drive, adjacent to M&T Bank Stadium, will be closed between West and Hamburg Streets prior to and during the game.
- The Hamburg Street Bridge will temporarily close between Leadenhall and Paca Streets for game entry. After the game begins, the bridge will reopen until the fourth quarter when egress closures will commence.
- Ostend Street Bridge will also temporarily close between Sharp and Warner Streets for ingress during the game, reopening once it starts until the fourth quarter for egress.
- A distinct traffic pattern will be put in place along Warner Street between the Ostend Street Bridge and Stockholm Street for both ingress and railroad crossings.
- Special traffic configurations will be established along Warner Street, Alluvion Street, Worcester Street, and Bayard Street for egress beginning at the start of the fourth quarter.
- Hamburg Street will close between Hanover and Charles Streets at the commencement of the fourth quarter for egress.
- No southbound travel will be allowed on Hanover Street between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets at this time, with all traffic diverted onto Henrietta Street for travel east or west.
Due to ongoing construction, Warner Street remains closed between Worcester and W. Ostend Streets. To manage game day traffic, the Department of Transportation implements a special traffic pattern featuring a one-way lane for both ingress and egress on Warner St. Further, a pedestrian walkway will be available.
Attendees are reminded to follow all posted parking restrictions and residential parking regulations surrounding the stadium. Those planning to drive are advised to utilize commercial lots and refrain from using neighborhood streets. The Department of Transportation highly recommends using public transportation options, including the Charm City Circulator.
BALTIMORE FARMERS’ MARKET
Sunday, Oct. 4
To facilitate the market, which takes place under the Jones Falls Expressway on Saratoga Street between Holliday and Gay Streets, the following street and lane closures will be enacted from approximately 6 a.m.– 2 p.m. along with parking restrictions:
- Holliday St closure from E. Pleasant to E. Saratoga Sts
- Pleasant St closure at Holliday St
- Hillen St center lane closure between Front St and Fallsway
OTHER WEEKEND ACTIVITIES
On Friday, Oct. 2, the following road closures will be in effect:
- Thames Street closure between Point and Caroline Streets from 2 p.m. to 11:59 p.m. (special event – Living Classrooms 38th Annual Maritime Magic Festival)
On Saturday, Oct. 3, the following lane and road closures will be enacted:
- Charles Street closure between Henrietta and Hamburg Streets from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m. (special event – Federal Hill Vintage Fest)
- Jones Falls Expressway / I-83 northbound right lane closures from Falls Road to the city/county line from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. (tree trimming)
On Sunday, Oct. 4, the following ramp closures will occur:
- Closure of the Route 40/I-70 Expressway westbound access ramps, located west of Greene Street and west of Martin Luther King, Jr. Boulevard from 5 a.m. to 4 p.m. (maintenance work)
