Two individuals are still on the run following a shooting incident at a Giant Food store in Germantown on Friday night. This event left one man injured and caused shoppers and staff to scramble for safety, as reported by Montgomery County police.
As of Monday morning, authorities have not shared any images or video of the suspected shooters. No details regarding the suspects have been disclosed.
On Monday morning, police did not respond to inquiries from Bethesda Today regarding updates on the investigation, suspect details, or the condition of the victim.
According to a police press release issued on Saturday, two men are believed to have shot a third man after pursuing him within the grocery store on Friday night.
The incident took place around 8:45 p.m. at the location on 18331 Leaman Farm Road. Shortly after the shooting, police and Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service personnel arrived at the scene in the Kingsview Village Shopping Center.
First responders found a man inside the store with gunshot wounds. He was taken to a local hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening, according to police reports.
Initial investigations revealed that the suspects entered the Giant Food store and began chasing the victim. When he ran towards the checkout area near the front, one of the suspects fired several shots at him.
Police confirmed that the man was hit twice during the incident.
During the shooting, shoppers and employees inside the store quickly sought shelter, as stated by police.
Detectives are actively working to identify the two suspects and are urging anyone who was present in the store or who may have information about the incident to reach out to law enforcement.
