BALTIMORE — In a significant move last month, the Maryland Department of Health suspended Clover Hill Dairy’s operating license due to concerns regarding Listeria contamination.
This action led to a consumer advisory affecting the requesón and soft ricotta cheese products produced by the Mechanicsville-based company.
On Sunday, June 14, Clover Hill Dairy proactively decided to recall all of its cheese products as a precautionary measure.
The dairy distributes its products at various farmers markets and through third-party distributors across a number of states, including North Carolina, New York, Virginia, Maryland, New Jersey, and Washington, D.C.
It’s important to note that some products may be relabeled under different brand names like “KESSO,” “QUESOS LA RICURA,” “IZALCO,” “DE MI PUEBLO,” and “RIO LINDO.”
Regardless of branding, consumers should look for the Clover Hill Dairy manufacturer permit, which is identified by the plant number “24-128” on the distribution label.
“Consumers, retailers, and restaurants are advised against consuming, selling, or serving cheese products from Clover Hill Dairy, and should dispose of any such products immediately,” stated the Maryland Department of Health in a recent announcement.
