Germantown’s Arian Borghei, 18, Seeks to Represent Montgomery County’s 2nd District

Serving as an election judge has provided me with invaluable experience in working alongside a bipartisan team while adhering to election protocols with precision and neutrality. My involvement in canvassing and voter outreach has highlighted the significance of truly listening to residents to understand their priorities.

Currently studying political science at Hood College and participating in the Maryland Student Legislature, I am deepening my knowledge of government, public policy, and the legislative process.

If elected, these experiences will guide my approach to serving the community by prioritizing accessibility, constituent service, collaboration, and accountability. I plan to engage with the Council with an openness to bipartisan cooperation, actively listen to the voices of District 2 residents, and make decisions that best benefit our community. I believe that holding public office is fundamentally about service, not just politics, and I aim to uphold that principle daily on the County Council.

What do you believe is the single-most important issue facing voters in the district you’re looking to represent? How do you intend to address those issues?

The primary concern for District 2 is that our upcounty communities, including Germantown and Clarksburg, often feel overlooked in county planning and investment. The rapid growth in residential developments has strained our infrastructure, resulting in significant commuter traffic, rising living costs, and a shortage of local economic opportunities for families.
