BALTIMORE, Md. — A local woman from Baltimore is transforming a significant health challenge into a powerful source of motivation for others in her community.
In 2024, Emynie, who prefers to be called E, received a life-altering diagnosis: Type 1 diabetes.
“It was incredibly overwhelming and difficult to accept,” she explained. “I was doing everything correctly, and yet I still received this diagnosis. It was quite hard to process.”
As a mother of two and a dedicated human capital partner with Baltimore City Public Schools, Emynie suddenly faced the daunting task of managing a chronic health condition while juggling her professional and family responsibilities.
She identified regular exercise as a crucial element in regaining control over her health.
“Because it’s such a serious condition to live with, it motivated me to be more focused and consistent in taking better care of my health and body,” she shared.
As her dedication to fitness intensified, so did her collection of activewear. However, she grew increasingly frustrated with the clothing options available on the market.
“Much of what I found was overpriced,” E remarked. “When I wore it, I felt boxy and unmotivated. The quality of the material was not what I had hoped for.”
Determined to find a solution to her clothing dilemma, she decided to create her own line of activewear.

On August 10, she unveiled SCVLPT, her new activewear brand, which emphasizes comfort, confidence, and freedom of movement.
“It’s designed for us; it adapts perfectly to our bodies,” she stated. “When you look and feel good, you are motivated to do more.”
Launching a business from scratch has required immense dedication, involving extensive planning, design work, and rigorous product testing.
“She invests a lot of time ensuring the material meets high standards,” her cousin Antonio Grand noted. “I truly hope that people recognize and support her brand, especially since it’s a Black-owned business.”
According to E, the support from the Baltimore community has been overwhelming.

“I truly could not have embarked on this journey without the support of Baltimore, my community,” she emphasized. “SCVLPT has highlighted what can be achieved when we unite.”
Now, she aspires to inspire others who are grappling with their own health challenges, encouraging them to persevere.
“It may feel overwhelming, but it will not define you; you will always find a way to recover,” she affirmed. “Just take it one step at a time.”
