Exciting February 2026 Events Unveiled by Montgomery County Planning Board and Department

Wheaton, Md. – The Montgomery County Planning Board and the Montgomery County Planning Department, both under the umbrella of the Maryland-National Capital Park and Planning Commission (M-NCPPC), have released their schedule of events and meetings for February 2026.

Community members are encouraged to engage in Planning Board meetings through various means, including in-person testimony, virtual testimony, via phone, or by submitting written comments for specific agenda items through email by noon, two business days prior to the meeting. Please be aware that submissions received after this deadline will not be considered. If you require accessibility accommodations, please reach out to us. Members of the public can attend meetings in person, view them live or on-demand, or listen via phone. Individual agendas are typically available 10 days before a meeting; consult the Historic Preservation Commission website for their agenda details.

The offices of the Montgomery County Planning Department and Planning Board will be closed on February 16 in honor of Presidents Day.

February Calendar of Events and Meetings

February 3 – Montgomery Planning staff will host an in-person presentation of the Friendship Heights Sector Plan Preliminary Recommendations from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at the Wisconsin Place Community Recreation Center, located at 5311 Friendship Boulevard, Chevy Chase, MD 20815. A question and answer session will follow the presentation. While registration is encouraged, it is not mandatory.

February 5 – The Planning Board will convene for a meeting at the M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) available for in-person attendance and online participation. Additionally, the Planning Board will hold a joint session with the Historic Preservation Commission later in the evening.

February 5 – Montgomery Planning staff will again present the Friendship Heights Sector Plan Preliminary Recommendations virtually from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., followed by a Q&A session. Registration is required in order to receive access to the webinar link.

February 10 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) meeting will take place with options for in-person attendance at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters from 9:30 a.m. to noon (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) or via the live video stream. The DRC is a collaborative task force with representatives from Montgomery Planning, the State Highway Administration, and various county departments, including Permitting Services, Environmental Protection, and Transportation, among others. Committee members will review development applications with the respective applicants.

February 11 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) meeting will be held in-person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) starting at 7 p.m. A virtual attendance option is available upon request at the discretion of the Commission Chair. If you wish to testify on any agenda item, please register by 9 a.m. the day before the meeting.

February 12 – Another Planning Board meeting will occur, with in-person attendance at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online options available.

February 19 – A Planning Board meeting will be hosted in-person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) as well as online.

February 24 – The Development Review Committee (DRC) will meet, with options to attend in person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters from 9:30 a.m. to noon (2425 Reedie Drive, Third Floor, Conference Room #3-202, Wheaton, Md.) or via the live video stream. This inter-agency task force will again discuss development applications with the respective applicants.

February 25 – The Historic Preservation Commission (HPC) will conduct a meeting in-person at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) at 7 p.m., with a virtual option available upon request. To testify regarding an agenda item, please ensure that you sign up no later than 9 a.m. the day before the meeting.

February 26 – The Planning Board will hold another meeting, available for in-person attendance at M-NCPPC Wheaton Headquarters (2425 Reedie Drive, Second Floor Auditorium, Wheaton, Md.) and online participation.
