Baltimore is buzzing with exciting food and drink events this week, spanning from the lively ambiance of Fell’s Point to charming country wine spots. Here’s a comprehensive rundown of what’s on the agenda:

Openings & Announcements

This week, the proprietors of Oleum unveiled plans to launch Dahlia Cocinita, a vegan Latin café located in the Canton neighborhood.

Ubon, a new Thai restaurant, is set to debut in the former space of Nacho Mama’s in Canton. This establishment, which is scheduled to open early next year, is the latest venture from Jack Wongchalee, who is also behind The Dara and Bodhi Corner.

Moreover, Luma, a contemporary center bar and cocktail lounge, is set to open next to Luk Fu within Live! Casino & Hotel Maryland.

In other news, Bar Alice Anne has introduced happy hour specials running from Tuesday to Thursday, 4 p.m. to 6 p.m., providing a delightful option for patrons looking to unwind after work.

On a bittersweet note, Guinness Open Gate Brewery announced that it will be closing its doors on November 1. When it opened in 2018, it was the sole Guinness brewery in the United States. The brand has since opened a new brewery, restaurant, and taproom in Chicago this year.

Anniversaries

A big congratulation to Max’s Taphouse, which is celebrating its fortieth anniversary this month, having originally opened in late September 1986. While there aren’t any large festivities planned yet, it’s always a good opportunity to drop by for a drink at this iconic location.

In Hamilton, Animal Boy is marking its first anniversary by hosting a month filled with events, starting with festivities on the first Friday of the month.

Additionally, Blue Moon Too in Federal Hill recently celebrated 11 successful years on September 30.

Fell’s Point Fun Festival

The Fell’s Point Fun Festival returns from October 2-4, commemorating sixty years of festivals in this vibrant community. The event, which benefits The Society for the Preservation of Federal Hill and Fell’s Point, promises lively music, local vendor stalls, and a plethora of delicious food and drink options.

Oktoberfest Celebrations

As the calendar shifts into fall, Oktoberfest festivities are now in full swing. Cheers to that!

Wet City kicks off its annual Oktoberfest celebration on Friday, October 2, featuring German-style beers, enticing food specials, and 17-ounce tankards to enjoy.

On Saturday, October 3, Mobtown Brewing is hosting Mobtoberfest, a full-day block party showcasing live music, food trucks, local artisans, and new beer releases.

R. House will also be embracing Oktoberfest this Saturday with an afternoon and evening filled with live performances, tasty oysters, various beers, and German cuisine offered by Kitsch Café.

Highlights for October

With October’s arrival, several local establishments are rolling out new menu items and seasonal themes.

Johnny’s takes it up a notch with its décor each October, and this year is no different. The Roland Park restaurant is transformed into a Hollywood Halloween set, paying homage to numerous classic horror films.

The Duchess is also getting in the festive spirit by screening a different horror movie every Thursday throughout the month.

Over at The Corner Pantry, the featured drink for the month is the popular pumpkin spice latte, available either iced or hot.

Vivian’s has just introduced a brand new seasonal latte menu featuring five exciting options, along with hot apple cider and a unique “chaider” drink.

Additionally, Wicked Sisters has rolled out its new fall/winter menu, which includes new dishes such as labneh and beet salad and Irish whiskey chicken.

Porto at Hello Trouble

On Saturday evening, Porto Pizza will be hosting a pop-up at Hello Trouble, where it will be serving a delightful selection of both seasonal and classic pizzas. This marks the first of what may become a regular series of pop-ups.

Equitea x Magdalena

On Tuesday, Magdalena is collaborating with the team from Equitea to present a four-course dinner, complemented by beverages inspired by Equitea’s specialty lineup.

Tuscany in SoBo

On Thursday evening, October 8, Hersh’s will host a wine dinner focusing on the exquisite cuisine and wines from central Italy and Tuscany, featuring a four-course meal along with a discussion led by Lauren Loeffler from Free Run Wine & Spirits.

Harvest & Vine at The Fishmonger’s Daughter

On the same evening, The Fishmonger’s Daughter will celebrate the fall season with Harvest & Vine, offering a four-course meal that comes with the option of pairing it with wines that complement the seasonal menu items.

The Night Brunch Returns

Also on Thursday, The Night Brunch will make its much-anticipated return with a “homecoming” celebration at Port Covington Marina Paier. This event will feature a DJ, cocktails crafted by Bar Movement, and an assortment of dishes from beloved local vendors including Soul Smoked BBQ and The Urban Oyster.

Oregon Wine Supper

On Friday, October 9, Chef’s Expressions will host an exquisite meal showcasing wines from Bryn Mawr in Oregon. This multi-course dinner, taking place at The Manor Tavern, will include dishes such as venison stew with whipped parsnips and duck confit with hazelnut risotto, wild mushrooms, and a foie gras profiterole.
